HARBIN, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan held a banquet at noon on Feb. 7 at the Sun Island Hotel in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, to welcome international dignitaries attending the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin.
They are: Sultan Hassanal of Brunei, President Japarov and his wife Japarova of Kyrgyzstan, President Zardari of Pakistan, Prime Minister Paetongtarn of Thailand, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Woo Won-Shik and his wife Shin Kyung-Hye, as well as President Bach of the International Olympic Committee, and Timothy Fok Tsun-ting, First Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia, among others.
Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan exchanged Chinese New Year wishes with the honored guests, shook hands and posed for photos.
Forty children and teenagers dressed in Chinese and foreign national costumes sang the beautiful Heilongjiang folk song “Ussuri Boat Song” to warmly welcome the international dignitaries.
Inside the banquet hall, the ice and snow event and the atmosphere of red-hot New Year were intertwined, festive and peaceful.
