Trump is the perfect example of why you don’t need intelligence or education to become a billionaire in the US, just the right connections, with such an unnatural obsession with tariffs.
It’s honestly staggering how he made so much money without understanding even the most basic economic principles.
He genuinely believes the US is doing the world a favor by buying their tangible goods with intangible money, rather than exchanging an equivalent amount of US-made products.
But what he fails to realize is that the world is actually doing the US a favor, handing over real goods that America can use to generate economic activity, in exchange for essentially nothing but a virtual currency.
Whereas countries could've used that to trade with one another for real goods first, and generate that economic activity themselves, without first needing to sell it to the US for useless dollars and waste so much value.
And that currency? It eventually has to be recycled into US assets, which can be seized at any time.
Since the US barely produces anything anymore, the only way it can sustain its economy is by bringing in goods from other countries. Yet, Trump thinks the world is ripping off America when in reality, it’s the other way around.
For example, he probably looks down on Canada and Mexico, but they have much stronger and healthier economies than the US.
Now, with digital currencies and superior modern fintech, the global reliance on the US dollar is becoming obsolete. Countries can just trade in their own currencies, preserving their surplus value instead of having it siphoned off by the US.
And ironically, Trump is giving them every reason to speed up that transition and replace the current chaotic decelerated global economic and political system with something much better next.
