Im gonna bet Huawei, Microsoft, AWS, Apple are all allocating their semi design houses to fix that problem.

I think the big problem right now is memory size on devices for the bigger and more useful models. I think the tech that intel and micron made "3d xpoint" non volatile memory might be a nice solution. 3d xpoint can act like a storage but with memory like bandwidth. For normal programs there was never really a nice usecase outside of really high performance usages.

I had the same idea but I don't think it will work very well just by using Optane as memory. While Optane is much faster than NAND flash it still a lot slower than main system ram nevermind vram and I suspect to run big AI models well you are going to need all those megatransfers.

What may be possible is to have a two tier system. I have a cache system setup using Optane to accelerate my OS drive (m.2 NVME) and data volume (software raided SATA SSD) and it works well, makes the PC feel much more snappy:

(Romex Software is a Chinese company based out of Shanghai BTW, they ended up making a better cache software than both Intel and AMD)

A similar 2 tier system might be useful to run on consumer software for memory where the main memory is the faster cache level with a larger and slower Optane level underneath.

But the problem is Intel and Micron have stopped producing Optane because they couldn't do it profitably. I wish they would sell that technology to YMTC, maybe they could do it profitably.

You won’t find such sentiments amongst the livestock of India who believe they can cheat their way through life...
People here will love the line from this article...

What has also coincided with this is a sympathetic portrayal of Harshad Mehta in the wildly popular series Scam 92. Many seriously believe that India would have been a superpower if the discredited scamster Harshad Mehta had been allowed to continue rigging up stock prices for the past three decades.

Lure to what? To be treated like garbage, having to exit the job through back doors like a dog, arrested at the minimal suspicion, your career destroyed for publishing public research. I would recommend any Chinese who REALLY want to do research outside China to think to another country until things in the US go back to normal, maybe Europe, other East Asian countries even Canada.
Don't come to Canada, it's not good. Fine if you already have roots, not good for newcomers
Just saw some (I assume to be) homeless dude whip out his junk and p**s on the sidewalk
All the politicians blaming China and Chinese for a lot of things. Only reason why things aren't worse for Chinese is because India and recent influx of Indians are doing worse things.

Trudoo banned Type 81 last month though, so I guess conditions will soon improve exponentially.

Look like America want Chinese talents and engineers just couple of years ago they thought all Chinese were spies how time change.
Why would anyone Voluntarily become a slave? What are they, Indian?

Need Chinese to develop technology, but not being China either Chinese won't come or can't trust those who do

They're just slowly converging on what every barbarian tribe in history eventually figured out: the only way to survive is to become part of China, then you both have Chinese people and can trust yourself which is China
take their land and women under 30, the rest can be expelled back to Europe And Africa.

At least in research compared the Think Tank induced red scare in the US, Canada looks like a birthday party.

Scientist fired from Winnipeg disease lab intentionally worked to benefit China: CSIS report

Documents say Dr. Xiangguo Qiu's decisions 'could have impacted public safety'

One of the scientists who was fired from Canada's top infectious disease laboratory "intentionally" shared scientific information with China — potentially putting people's health in jeopardy — says an assessment by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).

The intelligence assessment was released late Wednesday afternoon by the federal government, along with hundreds of other documents about the mysterious dismissal of Dr. Xiangguo Qiu and her husband Keding Cheng.
The scientists and their students worked in the Level 4 virology facility at the Winnipeg-based National Microbiology Lab (NML), which is equipped to deal with the most serious and deadly human and animal diseases.

The couple were marched out of the facility in July 2019 and were stripped of their security clearances. Their dismissals were announced in January 2021, triggering concerns about Chinese espionage and leading to heated demands in Parliament for more information.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

LOL. I have been using CoPilot inside VisualStudio Code, but don't know what model it is using. If MSFT ported DeepSeek R1 into Copilot, I should be able to cancel Perplexity Pro with DeepSeek R1 subscription and save $20/mon. I love competition in capitalism.
