Musk owning the US version of TikTok? I don't think that will sit well with these liberals.Maybe a joint venture in the us tik tok operation?
I think this may be one of those "it was the correct decision at the time" type deal. CPC foresaw the need for internet sovereignty so they nurtured an internal habitat for domestic social media and kept it protected from external competition. But after a while they grew up and are now globally competitive. On the other hand US is increasingly censoring their own social media on class warfare topics like support for Israel and Luigi assassination, making Chinese social media attractive since it doesn't have that type of censorship. The migration to Xiaohongshu is hilarious, but it makes me think that the whole idea of operating an app for international users exclusively is a little short sighted. Having Chinese apps run on Chinese servers, subject to Chinese content moderation, and open to international users might just be the way to go.

Incredible that it took them so long find out that they live in an oligarchy, that the rules are made for them not for the ultra rich and that their voices don't matter compared to their feudal lords in the top.
Nah that ain't Charlwin

This is what happened: Trump wants to avoid ban because he knows how big a mess it'll be for him, asked Elon to help him out, Elon reached out to his contacts in China and proposed the idea, China replied to the email with "seen", thus Bloomberg concluded China is "discussing it".
I get the feeling a lot of Americans really didn't think it'll get to this point.
