What followed next was pure idiocy.
A sane entity in this scenario would attempt to diversify their suppliers or attempt indigenization, not import more handicapped systems from those that put you in this situation in the first place. It would be more prestigious to develop a domestic aircraft, even an inferior one, instead of purchasing expensive and useless ducks.

Egypt has MIG-29M and long range airdefense so i am not sure why you think they are not allowed. The S300VM can hit aircraft at 350km. I doubt any one else would have performed better against Israel when you add the scale of advancements they had.

The California state government is super corrupt and water rights are easy party favors for their big donors. That's how these landlords get so far. There's no sense of restraint or responsibility at the top
