Live news: Pentagon adds Tencent and CATL to its ‘Chinese military companies’ blacklist
The Pentagon has added Chinese tech giant Tencent and battery maker CATL to its running list of designated Chinese military companies operating in the US.
Shares in Tencent, a gaming and social media company that owns ubiquitous Chinese messaging app WeChat, were down almost 7.5 per cent on Monday.
The list includes dozens of firms that the defence department considers to be working with the Chinese military.
Chipmaker Changxin Memory Technologies, drone-maker Autel Robotics and IT equipment maker Quectel Wireless were also added to the list.
