Controversy over the presence of foreign officers on the list of Sharaa promotions
The commander of the military operations department in Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, known as "Abu Muhammad al-Julani", issued a decision to grant military ranks to figures within the new Syrian army, starting from the rank of colonel to the rank of major general.
Sources revealed to Sputnik that there are non-Syrian nationalities among those who were granted the rank of brigadier general and colonel in the new Syrian army, including:
Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Hussein al-Khatib, a Jordanian national who entered Syria in early 2014. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan and is known for his strong loyalty to "al-Julani" and has held several positions within the "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" organization.
Brigadier General Abdul Aziz Dawoud Khudabardi, available information says that he is a foreign national who entered Syria in 2015 and fought within the ranks of the "Turkistan Islamic Party" loyal to "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham"
Brigadier General Omar Muhammad Jaftshi, nicknamed Mukhtar al-Turki, holds Turkish citizenship and is considered one of the founders of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham".
Colonel Abdul Samriz Bashary, nicknamed "Abu Qatada al-Albani", holds Albanian citizenship and has been a leader within the military wing of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" for 8 years.
Colonel Mulan Tarson Abdul Samad holds Tajik citizenship and is considered one of the most prominent foreign leaders in "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham"
Colonel Alaa Muhammad Abdul Baqi An Egyptian national who has been in Syria for nearly 10 years and works as a leader in the “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” organization.
