ROFL. Russian loans were offered prior to the coup that overthrew the elected president of Ukraine. The annexation of Crimea and proclaimation of Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics followed after the coup.

A few weeks between annexation of Crimea and proclaimation of DPR/LPR does not change the fundamental relation that Russian loans were offered -> coup occurs -> Crimea and DPR/LPR are no longer part of Ukraine.

It also does not change the fact that the IMF loan terms, tied to the EU partnership, were extremely harsh in comparison - smaller loan and requiring an increase in final customer gas prices - and was offered only immediately prior to the Russian offer: Nov. 12 2013 for the IMF loan, Dec. 17 Russian loan.

It also does not change the fact that the final value of the IMF + EU loan was lower than the Russian loan despite its harsher conditions.

Also funny how continue year-on-year economic growth since the 2008 western financial crisis is framed as a failing state with struggling economy as justification for the coup.

The guy also flat out lies about the course of events about the Miden coup, which has been openly admitted as a CIA operation. I saw live on TV riot police getting fire bombed. If that happened in the west, machine guns would have been used on the rioters and all the western MsN would cheer the police on.

He also deliberate omission of key dates and events such as the Odesa house massacre from his timeline.

Nothing but pure propaganda.

This sounds harsh but one of the reasons a lot of these middle east guys are at the mercy of evil Israel is coz frankly they don't use their brains much. Time and time again they constantly keep getting played and fooled by Israel, the west and hell even other senior Islamic religious leaders who have ulterior motives. With the rise of the internet that gives them access to more information than ever, you would think they would start learning. But it seems the only thing it has helped them on is figuring out how to recruit more ignorant people to join their organization instead of stoping to see the bigger picture.

Oh well. History doesn't care and is a rather cruel figure. It doesnt have any emotion for those who remain ignorant. Those who cannot adapt to the current world will just get left behind in the dustbin of history to be forgotten.
This reminds me of Russians complaining about their terrible experience of training locals in middle eastern countries (possibly the United Arab Emirates) to use BMP-3.
The vast majority of people have no knowledge of the concept of 'electricity'. Because they don't even have basic literacy skills. Training and assessment became a disaster, and due to political considerations, instructors had to lower the difficulty of the exam to ensure that everyone passed. Even so, many people have to cheat in order to pass the exam.

If you hear the answer 'Electricity comes from the gift of Allah', I believe you will also feel despair.

Another story is about recent events where Arab scholars have developed a serious misunderstanding of Confucius' theory. (Perhaps everyone has already heard of this matter)

Confucius has a famous saying that laments the passage of time.
——子在川上曰:“逝者如斯夫,不舍昼夜。 The Master, standing by the river, said, “Time passes by like this, flowing away day and night.”
But for some reason, this Arab scholar understood this famous saying as "patiently sitting on the riverbank waiting for the enemy's floating corpse (dealing with the international situation)

But,this article is not meant to tell a boring joke, the author provides a serious explanation of Arab religious beliefs later on.

Another Arab scholar developed a strange understanding. This scholar praises Confucius' ideas for defeating Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
The Arab definition of Confucius is' prophet'. The victory of Confucianism is regarded as the victory of God's wisdom.
Qin Shihuang clearly unified China according to the will of God, but did not understand the divine will. Instead, he suppressed the "truth" that Confucius (the prophet) brought to China and the world. However, in the end, Confucius' "wisdom" and "philosophy" won, which became the policy foundation of governments of all dynasties and the spiritual foundation of Chinese people.

The author believes that these scholars have fallen into serious idealism. They cannot believe in the wisdom of humanity itself, and can only consider everything as the result of being created by "gods". He couldn't imagine that Confucianism and Taoism were both products of human thought and practice.

This kind of thinking is even more unable to explain China's history and economic development, they understand China's outstanding leaders as "prophets" or "chosen one",everything is destined to follow God's instructions.

The author is deeply concerned that these scholars are well-educated elites, but their thinking is still based on monotheism.

To put it simply, these people only have 'because God/Allah chose to stand on their side, they will win' in their minds.
You can deeply feel their negative attitudes and stubbornly sink deeper and deeper into this quagmire.

Honestly I don't even understand how they logically came to such a conclusion. It just doesn't make sense trying to track their thought processes.

Middle east guys really do seem similar to Indians in some ways. But at least STEM is taken seriously in India so they at least have their eyes aimed at the right place while these guys in the Middle East are happy to just believe Allah did it and leave it at that. With such a mentality, how are you going to understand anything that is technical and complex?

India update. In the chaos over Syria, this one got lost in the crowd.

Are they right? Yes.

Ironically, it was Modi who pushed India closer to the US! Many of us pointed out that China poses less of a threat to India long-term than the US, because American companies are knee-deep into India and many Indian elites are compromised assets of the US state dept. China doesn't have anything close to that influence in India. But Indian elites are obsessing over China for irrational reasons.

If India continues to rise, their honeymoon with the West will come to an end unless they accept permanent subjugation.

But there are three key problems India must grapple with:

1. They are not indispensable to the world economy like China is. India is actually pretty easy to bully and sanction.
2. They are very reliant on Western technology. When Denmark held up exports of a single part to an engine, their entire Tejas programme came to a screeching halt.
3. Their entire economic model is built on cheap IT services to the West. And they are much more reliant on remittances from the West than China is.

All these taken together means that the West has the "escalatory dominance" with India in a way that they don't with China. And would China really bail India out given India's long history of backstabbing China?

Well there's always the case they start up as initial puppets but later on they start having "disagreements" with their original benefactors and then become an enemy. Then the West creates another set of terrorists to do the same thing etc.

We have seen this play exactly like this before, yes. Libya(and Afghanistan before it) started the same way but seems the West is actually run by morons incapable of learning anything, ever.

The Syrian "resistance" will split along ideological lines as their factions no longer have to pretend to be moderate to please the shitlibs in the EU and US, and this will likely blow up on the face of Turkey because there is not a sea in between them and the salafists they support like in Libya which they don't really control either. The watermelon seller might eventually realize that Turkey is not part of the big boys club when the consequences arrive.

- The only way for the U.S. to be safe is for their adversaries to "wake up scared and go to bed scared"
Maybe it is not a bad thing for China that more Chinese are scared of the US.

US having parity with China, of that I'm not scared. Just look at the difference in science publications, in economy and industry size. Demilitarized China at 1.6% spending has good enough combat capability to deter moderately mobilized US in the whole Asian continent.

But the American problem is still something China needs to manage. As the saying goes, fear leads to anger and anger leads to hate.

I think China has an insufficient level of taking US seriously, and on the flip side, Chinese are also not seeing the benefits of carving up the US empire.

Chinese people broadly do want a society where they have maybe 50 000 $ gdp per capita, and for real, not pushed up by just a few billionaires. A path to achieve this level of prosperity would be to put US and it's colonies on the dinner table. They are weak now and China has the historical motives of ensuring it's own security.

Interesting reports that confirm that the SAA even refused to call up reserves even though the Alawite population was prepared to join the fight. Together with all the minimal resistance in Hama, Homs and Daraa it looks like the fall of the Syrian Ba'ath was a preplanned transition

And the Turks going on rampages killing civilians in the Kurdish areas, again demonstrating that they did not have Syrian welfare at heart

Raqqa Governorate: 11 civilians, including 6 children, were killed, all members of one family, including children and women, when a Turkish drone targeted a house in the village of Al-Mustariha in the countryside of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, within the areas of the “Autonomous Administration”. This comes amid a state of panic and fear that has prevailed in the region as a result of the recent military escalation.
Thus, the number of air strikes carried out by Turkish Air Force drones on areas under the influence of the “Autonomous Administration” in northern and northeastern Syria, since the beginning of 2024, has risen to 191, resulting in the death and martyrdom of 55 people, in addition to injuring more than 49 soldiers and 73 civilians, including 6 women and 3 children.

This is very wrong, even for the US. CNN gave an interview to Julani, a guy who leads a group formed by Al-Qaeda terrorists who killed many Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan, and now they want to remove the HTS group from the DoS terrorist list, this is a total and widespread betrayal of all Americans who served and died for their country during 20 years of GWOT. Collaborating with the guys who murdered your people is a bizarre attitude and very wrong, even for the US, which has no limits to hypocrisy. If I were an American right now I would be embarrassed.
