If this is true I wonder when reality will hit them that you can't bring back manufacturing without giving up dollar hegemony. Every time I read up on Trump's expected policy I get the feeling of someone trying to look both left and right at the same time. Okay, you bring back manufacturing making what exactly? Is this purely import substitution or will it focus on exports? How will they compete with China and are Americans ready for reduced standard of living?

Imagine some random "disruptions" and "delays" from Apple's Chinese suppliers and their revenue actually falls by a 10% in a Quarter. Their whole stonk market would probably collapse and by then you would have some money suits going into the White House and "educating" Trump on how to behave

I'm not as optimistic as you. My biggest concern has always been the ability of US to mobilize its "allies" to self-destruct for US's own interests. You saw it with Huawei bans, with Russia sanctions, with litho ban, now with EV tariffs, etc. A China-US confrontation won't be confined to the two countries - the EU/UK/Japan/Canada/Australia will be strung along, and it's definitely not an easy challenge for China to face.

You joke but that’s actually a good question. Vance is basically trump’s life insurance policy, where if you kill Trump off, an even bigger lunatic becomes president. Kill them both off and the MAGA lot will do an actual armed insurrection.
Elon double heading DOGE is also an odd choice. I just assumed that Elon doesn’t want to give up his day job of pretending he is the real life Tony Stark, so the arrangement is that he calls the shots when he can be othered, while the India is in charge.m of the day-to-day running of the place.
But it also would make sense if Elon is given the post to give him an official cabinet level title so he can represent Trump more officially. While unofficially, DOGE can function as Trump’s personal goon squad that he can deploy to purge any government departments and employees who doesn’t play ball under the guise of cutting waste.

I looked at the comments underneath, Jai Hinds all love Adani, nobody even bothered to question whether there is something wrong with the image or his business dealings. I think Jai Hinds believe Adani Enterprise is like some sort of national champion like Samsung or Toyota which can uplift the whole society, which cannot be further from the truth.
It's ok though, China's best friends in India are the oligarchs. They will always be willing to sell out the country to make a few quick bucks.
