Really humiliating (if true) for Iran. I can't believe Iran's PR to the UN would agree to give this clown his time of the day.

WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Billionaire Elon Musk, who is an adviser to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, met with Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations on Monday, the New York Times reported on Thursday.
Citing two Iranian officials, the newspaper reported that the meeting was a discussion of how to defuse tensions between Iran and the United States.

Interesting because Marco Rubio when he running for President against Trump, he all of the sudden sounded realistic in regards to foreign policy compared to him. Now he's back to being absurd but who knows when it comes to Trump. Trump recently in an interview was coy when answering questions about raising tariffs, he said it might be lower than is expected in regards to China. Elon Musk has to be aware his Tesla factory in Shanghai might get nationalized if Trump carries out his threats. Tesla might take a huge hit having Trump's ear or the other way around might be happening.

The key is obviously Trump, doesn't really matter who is the secretary of state, he/she will do whatever Trump says so

Not sure what's humiliating about meeting the incoming head of an American government department and senior advisor to the new us president. Elon musks business interests might be the best way for China, Russia and Iran to handle the new US government

Elon was also involved in the call with Zelensky and Erdogan. Are we sure JD Vance is the vice president?

Interesting way to see things. Elon's is personally deeply compromised by China and has long been vocal in support of Russia, if a US ambassador to Iran had a meeting with an Iranian businessman with no official diplomatic role, who is vocal about friendly relations with Israel, to talk about Iranian policy, bypassing their government and foreign ministry, is that a bad look for the US or would that look like color revolution?

....
Turkey has already recalled (not withdrew) its ambassador to Israel last October. When Erdogan said "severs all relationship" it must include "withdrawing ambassador and closing the ambassy". Anything short of that is just another empty words.

You mean humiliating for US???

Non basket case countries do not have "the oligarch" that other ambassadors can meet in order to make demands on your country according to the oligarch's own profit potentials.

America now has its own Arestovych, that is not an enviable position to be in.

I think there's an element to this and that's why I think it's a good idea to keep the sanction on Rubio. That way Rubio can't visit China and instead they will need to ask Musk to go (and he can always do it under the guise of visiting his factory in Shanghai if a cover is needed). Musk can then do closed door diplomacy Nixon style.

It's not clear if Trump and Musk are really such good friends that Trump would view this arrangement positively, but I'm very sure Musk would enjoy being the new Kissinger.

It also has the benefit of sowing discord among the new administration as Rubio would surely see this as Musk elbowing in on his turf.

Considering Elon is already sitting in on calls with foreign leaders while Rubio isn't, it does look like it's trending that way isn't it.
This is the funny part about American system, they allow corporations and billionares to control their own officials, without any protection on elite capture of those corporations and billionares by foreign goverments who controls corporations.
