- Welding could be a problem if and when you need to open the panels.
- Welding is not ideal for systems that are experience vibration, hence fatigue.
- Resistance welding, which is I have seen used on thin sections, would be too difficult for the assembly stage. I believe it would be used on large sections before the assembly stage.

I was watching an episode of Eureka the other day and the Russian Security chief was sporting the H&S on his furhat and on his winter parka, is this still standard with Russian forces?

How do developers get their knowledge in developing military hardwares?
I know this is not taught in the books at college.

The military learned from battlefields the drawbacks of their current equipment, draw up a request list to enhance their future fighting machines. The manufacturers developed according to military's spec.
Science fictions has also some influences on the imaginations of the hareware developer, and new innovations are born such as laser = death rays of alient UFO etc.

what is known of its fire control system? (source, thermal cameras, autotracking, magnification, LRF type & performance, hunter / killer capability, ATGM capability, etc).
What is the known performance of Chinese APFSDS?
what protection has the MBT 2000? (smoke dispensers (type), laser detection systems, APS, ERA, etc.)
