Low-cost, muti-role aircraft for small militaries

Re: New interceptors for the Argentine Air Force?

Gentlemen,

To quote Jeff Head. “Please stay on topic”. I truly appreciate the excellent discussion regarding the Boeing, Airbus and spare parts for Chinese produced aircraft.

From what I’ve read in the Argentine press (which has to be taken with a grain of salt and read between the lines). The only aircraft that have been purchased are the 13 Mirage F-1s from Jordan. These low hour aircraft are being upgraded in France with avionics comparable to the Mirage 2000-5.
The possible purchase of Mirage 2000s from Qatar (with France as a broker) will most likely not materialize due to the high acquisition cost. This would leave the FAA with 13 Mirage F-1s and 32 A-4AR. Basically not much of and air force.
As I mentioned in pervious posts the Air Force will have available approximately $US700 million for new aircraft acquisition. Many of you have championed the purchase of used J-10s from Chinese stocks. Others have advocated the JF-17.
Within the next 10 to 15 years Argentina will need to replace the existing A-4AR. This will leave the country with less aircraft than ever before to secure the vast airspace. A robust multi purpose aircraft that can be upgraded and can serve until 2050 is needed.

Thanks

Planes like the F-20 Tigershark and the Gripen are probably the cheapest Western aircraft available new, but seeing how the Iranians are developing the Saeqh from the F-5, something that like may be cheap enough for the Argentine Air Force to develop domestically on a lean budget.

I just wonder if that might solve Argentina's problem.

If Argentina buy from China 4 squadron of FC-1, I think thats a better way of solving their problem.

Since China accept barter trade and import large quantity of food from Argentina. Payment and funding is win win situation for Argentina.

Saeqh is a mystery fighter which very little info is available. Iran may be very good in self contain of their military requirement. But developing a modern and up to date fighter jet is still quite beyond what Iran can do..

Four squadrons of FC1/JF-17 are just what the FAA needs. A portion could be paid for in Argentine beef, wheat, soy and corn.

And Argentina cooperating with Iran on the Saeqh?

Argentina did sign an economic trade agreement with Iran a few years ago. But getting in bed with Amadinajad would alienate the Israelis who are Argentina’s biggest arms supplier and the provider of modern radar and avionics.

Also the Saeqh is an unknown quantity. From the few photographs I’ve seen, it just appears to be a copy of the Yak-130/J-15 in a single seat combat version. Hardly a modern fighter aircraft.

Did someone say the English where going to lose sleep, or sheep.

La Fábrica Argentina de Aviones “Brigadier San Martín” SA (Fadea) had signed agreement with Catic to manufacture light helicopter Z11. Agreement is reported to be for at least 40 units.
