China won gold in men's team gymnastics after they were written off in the beginning rounds.

The "crack" appears to be happening with British Diver Tom Daley not the Chinese as he wished. China's "weakest links" in diving beat him.

What do the South Koreans feel after first a DQ out of nowhere and now a Swiss soccer player tweeted Koreans should all burn and are retarded. Probably fingers plugging their ears as usual or blaming China of course.

In that context how funny Chinese Olympics officials called on Chinese athletes to calm themselves down after Sun showed excitement over winning gold in swimming.

why not let the athletes show some emotion? They've invested so much and are passionate about their craft. I actually like it when Sun Yang pumped his fists. I also loved it when he blew a kiss to a camera in a calm and cool fashion. Even the NBC commentator commented "that is confidence!"

How did the inquiry in men’s gymnastics end with Japan with silver and Ukraine in fourth?

By Maggie Hendricks | Fourth-Place Medal – 1 hour 19 minutes ago

Kohei Uchimura awaits inquiry results. (AP)While the U.S. men's gymnastics team was finishing their final rotation during Monday's team final, the British crowd at the North Greenwich Arena erupted. After Japanese star Kohei Uchimura fell during his pommel horse dismount, the British team moved into second place, and Ukraine took third. Japan, who had been in second all day, was shockingly out of the medals.

It didn't seem right, and that's because it wasn't. The judges made an error on Uchimura's score. As the British crowd danced and cheered for their country's first gymnastics team medal in 100 years, the Japanese delegation filed an inquiry.

Their party was short-lived. The gymnastics federation found they made a mistake in Uchimura's start value by not crediting him for his dismount. The half-point awarded to Uchimura made the difference. Japan moved into second, Great Britain into third, and Ukraine was left out of the medals.

The situation was very similar to the controversy around American gymnast Paul Hamm and South Korean gymnast Yang Tae Young. In 2004, Tae Young was given an incorrect start value. Hamm won the gold, but wouldn't have if Tae Young had been given the correct start value.

The big difference in these situations is that Japan immediately filed their inquiry, while South Korea did not and was refused on those grounds. Japan was smart to file right away, or they may have ended their day without a medal instead of the silver they earned.

When I understood that the judges had made a mistake in not crediting Uchimura with a dismount but had overturned their original decision I was actually fairly happy. All the BBC commentators agreed it was the right thing to do upon watching the replay (they'd been focusing on the floor where our guys were performing). The British boys would have known what should have happened and might have probably felt a bit bad for getting a silver medal they didn't actually deserve. But they definitely deserved bronze, which they should be rightly over the moon about. Apparently it was our first male gymnastics Olympic medal in a century or so.

I think we should congratulate all the medalists. Coming second or third in the world is very hard, sometimes harder than winning other events. I'm sure you haven't forgotten the silver and bronze medal winners, but they should be praised too.

Actually we should congratulate ALL the athletes, except those who used substances. They all worked very hard to be where they are now, so each deserves our applause

This is absolutely pathetic.

I cannot recall a single other case where a supposed top coach, or anyone else remotely respectable within an Olympic sport, has all but blatantly accused an athlete of doping without a single shred of evidence to support the claim.

I am absolutely positive that had Ye been white, there would be no 'suspicion' placed on her at all.

I really hope there are some serious personal and professional consequences for John Leonard after Ye's test results come back all clear, because thanks to his lack of tact, judgement and professionalism, this poor girl may never be able to fully clear her name even if she did absolutely nothing wrong.

If Ye breaking world/olympic swimming records is considered "disturbing" per Leonard then why wasn't Bolt associated with doping suspicions when he broke all the records in 2008?

Records are meant to be broken anyway and it's a certainty that London organizers had conducted their tests. Makes you wonder...

I haven't heard anyone accuse racism especially since this is Leonard's first comment. Since he brought it up race must've placed doubt in his mind in the first place. Supposedly testing is pretty fast and no word yet. I know... yes some performance enhancement is not detectable. Yeah that's why it can be accused of anyone. The fact is there is no one test for performance enhancement that fits all. You have to do a test for every known cheat. And since China can only copy guess who gets away with it first until they make a test? Then they have moved onto the next new way to cheat never getting caught.
