right, i'm chinese american grow up in china. my much younger cusin live in capitol of inner mongonlia have friend who were train in these type of gym before. last time i went to china know this.
also as a person has chinese heritage and contact in china. i expect any chinese to know the situation in china, whether or not you think these are true or not is your choice. since you should know more about china been a chinese and live there know the situation. know how the teacher train/teach kids
lowest level is most likely place to happen, it does not mean it doesn't happen in higher level. seriouslly ive been to school in china, so are you. i took some table tennis trainning before and know how strict the teacher are. gymnastic been on a different level, gonna have tougher trainning and alot time these trainning are just pure abusive. you talk about western bias, but ignore alot thing that you know happen in china.
right. everything is happy and cool in china. coach never train the kids borderline abuse. you are full of your self think this is not happen. most chinese would know these thing as they live in china got the 1st hand experience. i live in china for decades, most my relative are chinese, clearly i know more about these thing than you or you just try to be nationlist and defend anything bad happen in china?

or is it everything that doesn't suit your perspective is bias? i understand there are western media bias, but some of these news are not all false or bias opinions. by ignore everynews and call it bias, you are just bias if not more than some western media. its call ultra nationlism.as for source
better yet if you are in china or next you go there why not check it our your self at one of small gym to see how they train.

Really? It certainly doesn't show in your posts.
Chinese athletes, olympic level or not, all start from specialized Phys Ed Schools (体校). I am certainly not aware of many villages that are prosperous enough to have their own Phys Ed School. There are about 3000 Phys Ed Schools in China, over 35,000 towns/counties, and over 1.8 million villages.
You can draw your own conclusions from those numbers with regards to the likelihood of "village/county" level training facilities.

Yes, you know someone who knows someone who was told someone who mentioned someone was trained in such gym. Can that be extrapolated to imply this is the case throughout China? Do you have statistics? There is always bad apples, always someone who is willing to cut corners. Does that mean everyone is like that? I also had a buddy of mine who was trained in a gymnastics gym when I lived in China. He trained hard, but was treated fairly. A guy I knew when I was in middle school also went to sports school in Shenyang. He was also happy there. So between you and me, which one of us is telling the truth?

Yes, only cities have sports schools. Most villages barely have enough money to have a general school. Only big cities have dedicated specialty schools, like gymnastic school, diving school, etc. These schools usually are well-funded.
Especially in this day and age when kids are treated like royalties in family. Can any family tolerate torturing of their kids? Only a while ago, people are questioning the ability of modern Chinese youngsters to endure hardship and, consequentially, ability of Chinese military to withstand hardship. Now, people are saying these same kids could be tortured... So which one is true?

seriouslly when westerner accuse chinese swimmer cheating, i defend her. but clearly there are few ultra nationalist here on the board that clearly can't tell wrong and right and defend china on this. any normal person saw that picture know its wrong. and as a chinese-american grow up in china, went through school and some sport trainning, i know these thing happens. but clearly some member here are so into defending china from ANY western media whether wrong or not. people can't distinguish from western bias or something that could really happen in china. or just want to ignore it
heck if you guys think this kind hard trainning never happen in china, why not go there and check it.
yes, china is a happy place, the teach is not strict, and the coach never train kids like that. you are full of yourself. why not goto one of those gym next time you visit china. i've seen plently ultra nationlist chinese defend china at any cost. complaining western media but ignore any source that could be true and call it false. like i said most of you here travel to china, i travel there quite abit, this is easy to verify next time anyone go back to china.
so basically you call the source lies, and bias
only CCTV is true huh. i think you need distinguish western bias vs something that is true, something that can happen in china.

Hard training, yes absolutely!
Child abuse? Maybe in your opinion, but certainly not in the opinion of those children's parents, and apparently, certainly not in the opinion of the athletes themselves once they grow up. How many people in the USA do you know sends their kids to abusive institutions?
Or are you imagining that the parents know nothing of the training conditions of their kids? Or that the kids, once grown up, have been so brainwashed by the evil commies that they don't even realize they've been abused? Or perhaps the government kidnaps the kids and force them to become Olympic champions?
