Aargghh, it was from the previous FT link:

That is the most pathetic attempt at smearing I have seen in some time.

Oh, they both worked in the same city when Lai was running his smuggling rig so they must all be involved somehow. Truly moronic reasoning.

It is way past time the news industry were properly regulated with a professional conduct governing body. It is the only 'profession' that does not have one, and as the latest revelations about the News of the World has shown, people working in the press really do think they are above the law never mind 'minor' concerns like professional competency.

There is truly no lower limit to how stupid or incompetent reporters can be. Do they even have to pass any sort of professional training or exams before they are allowed to report the news? Many of them do not even seem to pass basic literacy tests with the number of spelling, never mind grammatical, errors that make it onto even respectable newspapers and websites.

Maybe all the liberal arts drop outs ended up being journalists after they moved above flipping burgers?

No offense to liberal arts majors on this forum. People in the Engineering department tend to enjoy belittling other majors.

My sons friend from Jinan?(spelling) tried to get in to Auckland uni law school. He wasn't considered good enough with 4A's and a B+ after his first year. So he joined my son in studying engineering.(mechatronics) He ended up graduating top of his class in engineering school. So what is that telling you.Auckland Uni had a world ranking somewhere in 50-60,s at one stage and engineering was considered prestigous.

50-60s... That's considered pretty good internationally right?

My friend who I dropped out of high school with for UoA is trying to get into law school and to be guaranteed a spot they basically need an A- average for all papers. Pretty harsh that your son's friend wouldn't have gotten in with the marks he had.

Anyway, OT

Clever thinking on our part huh? No trial and imprisonment costs for us, the chinese govt are gonna pay for the whole lot.

Well if you believe western media(in this case they are somewhat accurate), the man probably works his ass off in prison to make money for the guards, for example a few month ago they exposed a WoW gold farming operation based in a Chinese prison. The prisoners performed hard labour during day time, and spend most of the night doing repetitive mob killing, farmers who fail to meet the quota were punished with no sleep or no food. Needless to say they've at least completely cured any possible addiction to computer games...

He's probably cursing himself for fleeing back to China. If he stayed, he probably would have got 12yrs and more than likely, paroled after 8.
