Nah, if there was anything remotely untoward about those deaths, you can bet your bottom dollar the Indians would be crying about it because as much as they love to play war god, they also love to play the victim card.
It is possible that kill orders were played on them, whereby lethal force was specifically authorised for them, but it seems highly unlikely given the actual conditions (just watch the video, you will be hard pressed to recognise anyone even if they were right in your face).
Even Seals and other elite special forces carry photographs of HVTs to confirm identity of kills, and they would be been mission prepped on who they were going after. And it is asking a lot even for Chinese organisation capabilities to have identified the ringleaders of the Indians and made every soldier in the reinforcement group memories the faces of HVTs with kill orders while they were rushing towards the front with all due haste.
I see nothing wrong with the official Chinese version of events in that the Indian CO and his command staff led the charge like they were starring in a bad Bollywood movie expecting to steamroll the PLA lines, but instead got instantly yeeted to the afterlife since PLA reinforcements would have been briefed on what the Indians had done and would have had revised ROEs and so were in no mood to play nice like they were previously forced to.
That immediately broke the moral of the Indians and they fled so fast and so hard they killed the rest themselves in the process.
Had they stayed and fought, I think the PLA would have for sure killed a lot more. But I think the PLA would not have expected them to flee so pathetically, and were probably worried it was a trap so didn’t rush to pursue immediately.
