While I don’t think the Chinese side wants war, they definitely saw this as an opportunity to test India’s limits. Until India does something physical I don’t think they’ll stop.

Initially I was also very skeptical of who won or took more casualties, this might have ended really well or really badly for the Chinese side if no numbers of casualties from the Chinese side is disclosed. But I came across this photo today from Quora, not sure of its veracity or if anyone has posted it before. But if it’s true then I think the result is pretty clear.

This is from an earlier clash with no fatalities. Whoever entertains the thought that this engagement went badly for the PLA should ask themselves a simple question: if India believed it had inflicted such a humiliating defeat on China, wouldn't it now press the attack? Would it be talking about de-escalation or launching hostilities?

This is from way back in May near Pangong Lake. The Indian soldiers in the photo are only injured and bound. The rest of your points stand.

Has China moved up to the Shyok river? Am I reading this right?

That's Galwan river. The minor rivulet coming from NE joins Galwan right at the LAC. Galwan's confluence with Shyok is further 5 km downstream to the East.

Looks like no deaths and only a couple injuries ... in line with the rumors on Chinese social media last week.

in the western Himalayas last week, sources said.

The incident on June 15 in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed and at least 76 injured in the Galwan Valley was “entirely the responsibility of India”, a spokesman for China’s defence ministry said during a press conference on Wednesday.

Beijing has been reluctant to comment publicly on any casualties from the incident. On Tuesday, foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian dismissed as

Indian media reports which claimed 40 Chinese soldiers had been killed.

Three separate sources told the South China Morning Post that only a small number of PLA officers were injured during the brawl.

They did not give a definite number, but said China’s casualty count was much lower than India’s and Beijing had remained silent to avoid provoking New Delhi and escalating tensions.

...
India demanded China pull out of Pangong Tso, another flashpoint where the PLA has been accused of encroaching over the border, and return to the positions it held before tensions escalated, the reports said.
