Re: JH-7/JH-7A Thread
That's nice.
Where the hell have I been!
LOL. Stay around for another few years, I'm sure maybe bill sweetman will give you a mention xD
I think all stealth fighters have a similarly shaped nose.
The problem I have is that the "JH-7Bs" nose seems a bit too... "perfect"? If that's the right word.
The chining and the forward swept cowl of the DSI looks too... "sharp" and the angled serration of the panel on the nose seems too good for me. But then again I suppose the J-20's stealth shaping surprised me too.
I'm not saying it isn't real or that it is, but I'm going to reserve judgement until we have another two good photos.
I don't think it will have an internal weapons bay. Look at what is happening.
JF-17 (4th gen)-->JF-17B (4.5 gen)---Revised electronics and 'stealth' front only.
J-10 (4th gen)-->J-10B (4.5 gen)---Revised electronics and 'stealth' front only.
JH-7A (4th gen ish)-->JH-XX (4.5 gen)---Revised electronics and 'stealth' front only.
I think they are just going through all their aircraft and bring them from 4th to 4.5 gen. That doesn't require internal weapons bays and saves on cost.
I can't really agree with that as of yet because the JH-7A is a very old aircraft and bringing it to 4+ gen would be nearly as difficult as bringing it to around 5th gen.
Whether it has a weapons bay or not is in the air for me personally, but I think they must have it in some form seeing as they spent so long to redesign the aircraft, presumably from some form of scratch.
We'll see I suppose.
I wonder if the JH-7B turns out does have an internal weapons bay, and is as stealthy as other non F-22 5th gen aircraft, would we be wrong in claiming it too is 5th gen? Just for vanity's sake..
