The problem I have is that the "JH-7Bs" nose seems a bit too... "perfect"? If that's the right word.
The chining and the forward swept cowl of the DSI looks too... "sharp" and the angled serration of the panel on the nose seems too good for me. But then again I suppose the J-20's stealth shaping surprised me too.
I'm not saying it isn't real or that it is, but I'm going to reserve judgement until we have another two good photos.
I can't really agree with that as of yet because the JH-7A is a very old aircraft and bringing it to 4+ gen would be nearly as difficult as bringing it to around 5th gen.
Whether it has a weapons bay or not is in the air for me personally, but I think they must have it in some form seeing as they spent so long to redesign the aircraft, presumably from some form of scratch.
We'll see I suppose.
I wonder if the JH-7B turns out does have an internal weapons bay, and is as stealthy as other non F-22 5th gen aircraft, would we be wrong in claiming it too is 5th gen? Just for vanity's sake..

I kept my eyes out for Y-20 recently, not really for the other product from ShangFei.

Exactly my words, it's IMO a clean-sheet design ... and I still don't get it why this type is called the JH-7B !

My guess is that XAC or maybe PLAAF could have proposed this new plane as an "upgrade" of the JH-7A so it was easier to get funding or something. Kind of like the F-18E/F from F-18C/D only it is more of a clean sheet design.

Engineer was the first to post it on sinodefence. I think he is the first guy to post the picture on a non-Chinese forum.
