JH-7/JH-7A/JH-7B Thread

I suspect that JH-7B may have been a fall-back option in case J-16 didn't pan out. With J-16 entering production, JH-7 production will probably cease and upgrade of existing airframes to JH-7B standard will begin.

WOW,

JH-7A looks amazing.
It is a good aircraft..

This many JH-7A can easily take out an entire fleet of ships !
Don't get too excited, it depens entirely on the ships and how they are protected.

The Soviets had more capable, super sonic Backfire bombers and they figured it would take an entire regiment of them...and maybe two...to crack a fully prepared US Navy carrier task force.

These are slower aircraft and would have to run a gauntlet that has only improved over the last 25 years.

But let's not go there in terms of China vs US war scenarios..

Suffice it to say that the JH-7A is a good strike aircraft and can carry some very good weaponry. And the PRC does have a lot of them...a whole lot more than the 16 you see there.

IMO JH-7B or its improved model can replace J-7s or Q5s. Jh-7B may have some upgrades and may be tailored to fukfill different roles to replace J-7s. A modified version may also replace Q5s. When PLAAF/PLAN is satisfied with J-11d and J-16 and able to manufacture 175+ annualy, they would be used to augment/replace older Su-27/J-11a/J-11bs.
When J-11d/J-16 induction reaches to 1000s then J-7s may replaced.
It all depends upon performance of J-11D/J-16 as well as J-20/J-31 and their integration into the PLAAF/PLAN.

It would have to reduce the variouse types to enhance theoperational capabilities and increase the cost efficiency
