Speed of the YJ-12 is reputed to be > Mach 4.

Only during the terminal stage (< 50KM). It cruises around Mach 1.25 I believe. I learned in a video clip that the YJ-12 apparently does some pretty cool maneuvers to avoid enemy interception, including ditching its rocket boosters individually ...

Have any specs come out for the YJ-12. I would imagine it or something else China has would have to at least be equal in performance to the CM400K.

... and how much bigger the missile itself is !

Is this YJ-12? It doesn't have the fins in the mid section of the missile.

Edit: Never mind...I see them now. The bright sunlight and shadow kind of obscure some details.

look at the intakes. It's meant to be going supersonic the entire way.

It was based off the Kh-31, with a solid fuel rocket in initial stage, ramjet for rest of trajectory. During the rocket stage, the speed of the Kh-31 is 1,340–1,570 mph before the ramjet kicks it up to >Mach 4.

What I read on the Chinese boards, so I don't know if this correct, that cruise speed is Mach 2.5-3 while terminal is 3.5-4. Anti-radiation version has a 400km range while anti-ship is 280km.

Here's a graph on CJDBY that shows the different air defense layers of a CSG :

Mach 4 and Mach 1.25 are both supersonic speeds.

I believe Mach 1.25 is supersonic ... Mach 4 would be close to hypersonic ..

clearly when I said supersonic, I didn't mean something in the transonic range. Based on all the similar missiles, we are talking about mach 4 here. Do I need to spell out everything?
