Re: JH-7/JH-7A Thread

I have purchased a PLAN FBC-1 (JH-7) in 1/72 Scale by Trumpeter. I'm looking forward to building it, and intend to build it out as a JH-7A with more modern weapons than what is coming with the model. Newer ASMs and AAMs.

It's coming from a site in China (along with a newer build Badger (TU-16K/H-6) that I also intend to build out as a later model H-6) and should be here in June. I'm in no hurry. This will mean my 1/72 scale Chinese aircraft set will include the J-20, the J-15, the J-11, the J-10, the JH-7, and the H-6. All in 1/72 scale. I will work on building them in in between my 1/350 scale ship builds and will post them here on SD when I do. Here are the pics of this new JH-7 kit:

Could not find one here in the states, except on ebay and they are too expensive there. Generally, if you can wait for the slower shipping, you can almost always get the trumpeter models out of China cheaper.

I hope they come out with the JH-7A kit and provide a huge ammunition available for dangling out the wings.

I think I will be able to convert this one to a JH-7A easily enough, and they make 1/72 scale weapons kits, so I will be able to get the other weapons too. I'm looking forward to building it...but have quite a few lined up in front of it. I may move this one to the head of the line though, hehehe.

Re: JH-7/JH-7A Thread

Hi Jeff ... sorry to say but to convert that piece of plastic into a model of the JH-7 or even JH-7A is a more than hard task.

As far as I remember it has a completely off front section with a much too fat fuselage  :( ...

Here's a in-box-review I made some loooooong time ago at the German Flugzeug-Forum (after sign-in.. if one needs help, just PM me) ... at least look at the image attached: on top the corrected one ... on botton out of the box. :(

I remember some even longer time ago a in work-building tread where someone cut the fuselage and corrected everything ...I think it was nearly a scratch-build.

Anyway ... I hope all the best.

Thanks, Deino. Those pictures are very helpful.

I thought it looked too stubby...and so the "simple" fix just got a lot tougher.

But, it is the only one out there that I know of, so I will attempt it. Looks like I can cut it down in terms of its height, I need to see the front view so I can see how much it is off on that axis.

If you compare this pic of the finished product, with the second of the real aircraft, and notice the differences between the bottom of the horizontal stabilizer and the bottom of the aircraft...it reveals the problem as well.

Here's a Review and Build Up from a guy on Modeling Madness who made the necessary changes. Maybe it was the one you saw. Anyhow, I will use his information as a basis for my work.

I too hope we'll find out where it was taken and what it says on the panel in front of it.

On one hand, being portrayed next to a known real life aircraft gives it credibility.

On another hand, it is a pretty radical looking plane, ahead of anything known out there in the world (not counting the odd demonstrator).

The layout suggests to me supersonic use and high degree of radar stealth. That in itself is a bit peculiar, but if it was a subsonic design i would expect a shorter plane with different wings.

Anyone know what this is? Looks like the Sharp Sword model behind it.

At least that thing could fit that so far unknown fuselage we saw at SAC !??

Anyone with an idea where this model is on display ?

Yeah they're posting those pics again along with this over on the Chinese boards. Interesting that there was a lot of talk recently over there about a new medium bomber and surprisingly if this model is a real concept, some of the features depicted in drawings beforehand were very similar.
