I think he is talking about the engine having higher power. But I thought the engine upgrade wasn't confirmed?
Klimov is busy like heck with helicopter engines and Salyut has been working on serial production of the Al-222 engine.
Those might be causing delays in the RD-93MA program.

The Russian government already had to take some turboprop projects out of Klimov's hands and assign them to someone else so they could focus on existing projects.

Since the US and U.K. are participating there is a chance that PLAAF is reticent about Pakistan sending an extant PLAAF asset.
10CE has flown with Saudi 15SA and Eurofighters in Qatar which are both as advanced as the types used in USAF/UK Air Forces 4+ gen fighters, what would be the issue I wonder? I'm sure Qatar/Saudis will share experiences at any rate. This is JF thread however, oops.

If you know what happen to the fate of superior WW2 Japanense Zero fighter after US got an abandoned aircraft and designed a new fighter to counter them, and with great success, that's why you don't want your opponent to know the true capability of your aircraft.

The issue with the Zero wasn't the leak. The issue was that Japan had no ability to design a plane after the Zero, so whilst the US moved on the Japanese were stuck producing Zero derivatives until the end of the war. I don't think China is in the position of not being able to iterate and innovate their designs and hardware/software.

These are 4th gen + aircraft in an era where 4th gen is passing, one can't be designed overnight like WW2 designs and even if so, F-16 72 already matches close enough. Alas this is JF thread and not the place.

ISTR Japan had big problems getting an engine of more than 2000hp. Zero itself whilst highly manouverable and long-ranged sacrificed survivability features like armour and self-sealing tanks to achieve this.
