Do they ever release the results of J-10 vs JF-17 results at Shaheen? Like they did for Su27 vs Gripen at that Thailand exercise (name eludes me)

No, because that's generally considered bad behavior. Friendly exercises don't release 'scores', as they are training engagements and everyone is on the same side... The only two countries which have a bad habit of bragging about exercise results are the French and India... and we've seen US/UK pissed off responses to both.

Also no F16 participation i guess. I'd reckon J10 will simulate F16V pretty well.

Came across an Article on Sina (i normally take that with a grain of salt normally). The article is about JF17 scoring 2:0 against Eurofighter in Gulf Shield 2018, and went on to say during 2019 Balakot engagement, the theory was the AIM120C Indian side found was fired by F16 against Su30mkis, which were dodged by MKIs( using Israel made EW pods.) The Mig 21 was actually brought down by SD10 fired by JF17, the photos of the wreckage shows pattern of HE frag shrapnel damages. Oddly the author mentioned AIM120C being continuous rod.
He went on to say Rafale's Aesa still based on GaA technology while JF17's is based on GaN (didnt mention Block 2 or 3). So i was wondering i could debunk some of the claims.

120 is blast frag also.

Don’t know about Gulf Shield but the Balakot story is bull. Pakistan confirmed that the kill was made by F-16. If the JF-17 made the kill they would’ve not wasted a perfect marketing opportunity.

There's also a possibility that Pakistan has chose to sacrifice the possible marketing /PR boon for JF17 for clever deplomatic points / candies for US MiC by giving credit to F-16. Placating the US and its MiC by highlighting the American warplane's success over Russian one would have contributed to the neutrality shown by US in the conflict and aiding Pakistan in winning the broad Information Warfare atleast in International press.

There still has been no clear admission of the roles played by two very important fighter jets in the Balakot skirmish.

1. JF-17
2. SU-30 MkI

The F16 is already a combat proven aircraft, you really think shooting down one Mig-21 somehow distinguishes it?

No, but it does prove that it isn't just another half a century old design and can keep up with the current threats.
If JF-17 was indeed promoted as the aircraft who won then do you think US would've maintained the same posture during the skirmish.

Ah yes, showing that the F-16 is a design that can keep up with modern threats... by shooting down a Mig-21 from the 70s:)

Bison is a pretty far cry from 70s era MiG-21bis. Datalink w/ the Sukhoi jets would make it a considerable threat to even F-16s, especially if it was also carrying Adders along (which it was)

Military aircraft of the 50s and 70s are not obsolete. It is continually improving. China can integrate AESA radar into the Mig-21 if needed. But the better way is to convert the Mig-21 into a UAV.
