700 km? When? Please quote me the source.

I've must've either forgotten it or missed the news completely.

the first test claimed 350km range, subsequent test have said its range has been extended, just search you will find many sources

What exactly did you add to what I already said?

... you were talking about confluence of interests, what I said was anything but confluence of interests, we weren't even talking about the same things.

The conversation went like this.
1) Somebody claims that China will always act in its own interest and not Pakistan's.
2) You countering by saying that China and Pakistan's interests will remain similar for the foreseeable future.
3) I state that interests aren't even the only things national actors take into account since national actors are also irrational.

Both 2 and 3 are counterpoints to 1.

Hope that helps.

That does clear up indeed. Well, theory books talked indeed about rational and irrational behavior. But I think with economical development and military power are strongly based on getting the natural resources first. The behavior is largely based on oil and other resources. That was the bases of dollar related oil contracts for KSA, the invasion of Irac and probably Iran. I do not think it has anything to do with irrational things like 911, war on terror or bringing them democracy... I mean, yo still believe in WMD in Irac or democracy correlation with bombing to the stone age of Afghanistan and then call it rebuilding?

I've searched for the past three out of four tests of Hatf-8 (Ra'ad) Air Launched Cruise Missile on the ISPR website and they all confirm the range for this missile to be 350 km each time:

I think you may have got it mixed up with the Hatf-7 (Babur) Cruise Missile whose initial range was 500 km and subsequently extended to 700 km in later tests.

I don't, but in as much as many Americans did and still do, this must affect their political classes' decision making process. Politics is the art of the possible, after all. That is, after all, why politicians and big media bother with spin.

And then too, you have the decision-making process being interfered with by the decision-making apparatuses' personal interests. One needs look no further than the Indian military procurement scandals to see that.

One can argue how much the larger national interest figures here but I think this should be left for either a private conversation or another thread.

Bringing the topic back to life; A few questions ......

- In light of the recent news, where Pakistan's Govt requested (50) JF-17 Thunders, under emergency conditions from China. Considering that this news is valid. What sort of position is PAC-Kamra in at the moment? Are they in any position to scale-up their production of the JF-17 Thunders?

- In reference to the WS-13 Taishan engines, vis-a-vis the JF-17 Thunders. What is the current status of the mentioned engine? And is there any chance that the much talked about two-seater version of the JF-17, would be powered by the new WS-13 Taishan engines? Also, is there any timeline to give us a better idea as to when the JF-17/WS-13 fusion would take place?

- Referring to the pictures released a early this year, of J-10As and JF-17s testing SD-10/PL-12 BVR missiles. Are the tests complete and the JF-17s cleared for BVR capability? Also, has there been any news of China delivering Pakistan, the SD-10 missiles?

Re: Test Flaws Postpone JF-17

i'm pretty sure that's an old pic, it even still had the splitter plate

Yes for sure ! That's the first prototype with the smaller LERX, the old intake, no ECM/ESM pod on the tail .... :(

Honestly, we all know that so far no Block 02 airframe has been built.

Re: Test Flaws Postpone JF-17

the contract for block 1 is signed on 30 june. It is only matter of 6 weeks to see the first planes being assembled in PAC. Does anyone know whether the next 50 of the first Klimov RD33 order is executed? Does anyone know what exactly the next 300 engines contract is about? Is it the RD93MA?
