Sorry, but the IMO only visible difference is the second cockpit and reportedly a slightly longer front fuselage. Everything else is exactly the same.

- the bulge in blue seems only more pronounced due to different lightning.
- the afterburner nozzle in red is simply closed on the B and open on the A.
- and the tail in yellow is the same .

I think the change to the vertical stabilizer looks true. Here is a photo about the same angle.

The latest report (November 2016) suggested that 611 Institute is developing a semi-stealth version of FC-1 to boost its export potential. The aircraft might have certain stealth features such as a redesigned stealth nose with a one-piece F-22 style canopy.

Without at least a stealthy weapons container to be carried under wings, such design changes would me meaningless and wasteful.

Every little bit helps, especially if the changes do not end up costing a lot. Unless redesigned, FC-1 / JF-17 can not be made stealthy. But that does not mean that radar signature reduction measures are useless. Detect first, shoot first, is the BVR mantra. If the only significant radar signature is that of missiles (plus plumbing that may not be amenable to stealth), then that automatically gives an edge over simple 4th Generation fighters like SU-30 MKI.

The FC-17 has one up from on most current 4th gen fighter from the word go because of it's DSI engine intake, the plan to fit AESA and tweaking of the nose cone shape will all help it to be more difficult to detect. Don't get me wrong it will never be a F-35 but neither would cause an arm and a leg, the money these countries with limited defence budget could better spend elsewhere. My vision for this neat littile fighter is for it to be a giant killer, much like what the mig-21 was against the F-4 phantom, never did gaining air superiority but causing some serious competition and respect. Now if only China would commit to a few squadrons,if only for disimilar fighter air combat training it will help with the push to sell this aircraft.

Does this mean that FC-1 / JF-17 twin seater assembly line is going to be based at CAC? If so, then this would mean 2 assembly lines for this bird, one for PAF requirements and the other for export?
