actually does any one know what varient of RD33 is the fc-1 fitted with?

other option was RB-199. T:W ratio at 7.5 ( compare to M-53 6.5) not bad.

The RB-199 is certainly small enough and there are variants with afterburners (although their total thrust is lower than the RD-93s but they probably have a longer lifespan than Russian than Russian Turbofan engines) but like tphuang said, every indication is that Chengdu would prefer the WS-13 engine.

Personally I hink it will be settled with rd93 (improved thrust). Good for this kind of medium tech machine. But there is always a chance to get more expensive western parts...

most western countries already adapting 1 meter RCS as standard measurement.
while the russian may be using old 3 meter RCS target.
assume trying to detect 1 meter target,the detection range may reduce to 70~60km.

RB-199 like RD-33 has T:W ration 7.2~7.5 which is still impressive,which is still better than M-53
