Part of Japan's GCAP progress i guess, an AESA Radar dubbed "DAR" or "Digital Array Radar"

Someone generous enough to provide element count

1806 TRM.

The array seems to be a Brick architecture in TRM arrangement, image below shows the TRM "brick" or "stick" seems to be 4 channel TRM and the blue box an ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) Japan has been trying a true element level DBF (Digital Beam Forming) For fighter radar but i guess this one is still implementing it in subarray, where instead of each channel got its own ADC, the quad will.

For me, the array looks like 90 cm diameter or as big as F-15 array. With that assumption tho, the frequency of the array is about 9250 MHz (9.25 GHz)

Japan also has its 6th gen program. How do you think about it?

Umm... that's an artwork you do realise right?

Like dumbasses, NAFO, Jai Hinds, and sour grapes on the internet do not believe J-36 and J-50 are actual flying prototypes (but their perceptions << REALITY).

This thing you've linked is a splice of various movie props and CGIs plus an artwork "japanese 6th gen fighter".

If we want to start calling FCAS and GCAP as 6th gen, whatever. But Japan's F-xx demonstrator never went anywhere. They have a program to produce a 5th gen fighter with Italy and Britain - GCAP (what I think GCAP is in terms of fighter generation defining traits). They can call it 5.5, 6 generation, whatever. GCAP is a powerpoint plane today.

Well, China sort of broke the schedule. Before 2024, Americans tended to do it for generations, "launching" new generations ahead of schedule.

Before it seemed that wave of pure deltas(GCAP, T-75) will predate pure tailless aircraft(NGAD).

Not the case anymore. And if one can write off J-36 as something new(interdictor cruiser whatever), with Shenyang aircraft it doesn't work.

Their electronics and architecture may probably be similar in conceptual level. Signature won't, and it's hard to see any magic trick US can pull off to overturn the board.

Seems Japan wants to push their frigate (Mogami) here in Indonesia. The principal issue is that for some reason they were unwilling to provide the subsystems, which can put disadvantages for them when trying to pitch for international customer.

Australia tho might not have problem as Japan was close to US and their Mogami use US weapons. For us tho things are not so simple, particularly when other more ready products like Europeans and Chinese are available.

Current Mogami does not offer compelling advantage compared to FREMM or PPA, and to say nothing against Whale Shark 6000/Type 052DE.
