Japan Earthquake

China has already sent aid and a rescue team and I read today Beijing has increased its aid package. It's sort moot discussing it since it's already happening and there's no protesting over it.

Chinese aid should be significant and effective. This is great PR opportunity for the Chinese government to show the world the rise of China is benevolent and beneficial.

That's like telling the Americans to send massive amount of relief supplies to Iran and Alqaeda. If the government does that, countless Chinese people would probably smash their local city hall and another few thousand would protest on the Tiananmen square.

Hatred aside, this disaster is about global cooperations efforts on humaritian basis. I believe any countries would help either by relief funds or supplying essential aids. True the Chinese still hated the old Imperialist Japan but all except an apology from the Japanese government. But in times of disaster, hatred is put on one side, predjudices are hold back cos to save precious life is of upmost important task now.

Btw, has the ''72 hours'' passed yet?

Quoted from the news:

..."When the massive Wenchuan earthquake hit the Japanese government sent a rescue team to China and also offered supplies," said Wen, referring to the 2008 Sichuan earthquake that killed more than 80,000 people.

"The Chinese rescue team arrived in Japan yesterday and we have provided relief supplies to Japan. We will continue to provide further necessary aid to Japan in accordance with their needs."

The government has also donated 30 million yuan ($4.56 million) of relief supplies to Japan, the first batch of which has already left Shanghai, including quilts and tents, the Commerce Ministry said in a statement...

...

"Hu (President Hu) sent a message to Japanese Emperor Akihito on Monday expressing sympathy for the victims of the disaster and the Chinese government's willingness to provide all "necessary assistance," a statement on the government's website (

I'd hope to see them promoting friendship and fixing the relations. After all, the past is overdue, and it's time to move on. My generations shouldn't have to suffer from the past, and let normal relationship flourish. Anyways...China did increase aid, and I'd expect that, especially as Japan's neighbor. They have this odd hate-like relationship.

Speaking of which, did the nuclear crisis deteriorated further? What's with Japan and nuclear science anyways? They're always on the receiving end of the bad stuff.

Members of the Chinese rescue team prepare to depart to aid Japan in the wake of the recent earthquake, which unleashed a devastating 10-metre (30-foot) tsunami that washed away homes and tossed ships inland, at the airport in Beijing on March 13, 2011. Premier Wen Jiabao expressed his 'deep sympathy' to the Japanese government and people, and offered any 'necessary help' to its neighbour, the foreign ministry said.

Speaking of which, did the nuclear crisis deteriorated further? What's with Japan and nuclear science anyways? They're always on the receiving end of the bad stuff.

The fourth reactor at Fukushima 1, which was on maintenance and not operational during the quake, appears to be on fire now, likely due to the explosion on the second reactor. The core dome of the second reactor also appears to be damaged and possibly leaking based on increased radioactive counts after the explosion. This is getting worst everyday. Citizens are being advised to stay indoor within 30 kilometers of the nuclear plant.

wow, close call, I was suppose to visit me mom in Tokyo Friday for my spring break, but the Snow storm here in US screw up my schedule. Imagine get off a plane and get a earthquake, I am calling my mom to come to US for a couple of month due to the fact I am freaked out about the nuclear plant's possible meltdown right now...

The people of Japan is are my prayer...
