Re: J-xx

Found these two photos from CD forum. They seem to be the latest photos of J-XX.

Looks like the same dashboard and MFDs from a picture we have seen before, and thought it was J-10S rear cockpit.

The lack of the HUD on top makes these more of a second cockpit to a double seater.

If you look at the second picture, at the top and bacground, that appears to be the J-11B cockpit.

My guess is that this is the second cockpit of the forthcoming J-11S.

Well, looking at the pics again, the cockpit is either something's second cockpit, or tis a HUDless cockpit.

The green lit pic there does not look like a second cockpit. Note that the guy has a helmet on despite being a stationary stimulator, and the pics of the stationary cockpit sims we saw with the J-10, the techs operating the controls were wearing street clothes without helmet.

Interestingly on the second pic, if you look at the right side, you might see part of the helmet.

My guess is that the helmet is some kind of HMS, probably with a built in HUD like display. If you note the dashboard, there are HUD like controls in the top center, but no HUD.

On the second pic, the simulator on the top background has the wide screen HUD used in the J-11B.

I'm not saying this is it, but i do remember some alleged pics of su-35bm cockpit - which featured two large horizontally placed displays, practically making up one big long display across the cabin. This looks very similar.

Re: J-xx

Does anybody know how the development actually works?

I would imagine that the J-XX cockpit will look very similar to whatever the latest J-10 cockpit looks like when the time comes. For example, if they're producing the J-10e when the first J-XX comes out, they'll both have basically the same technology in the cockpit (obviously not identical, but similar tech adapted to the different planes).

So whatever is under development in these photos will probably end up in multiple aircraft.

That's not entirely true. Look at the JF-17 cockpit and compare it to the J-10's cockpit. The J-11B's has four MFDs and a wide screen HUD. The JH-7A's is only two in the front but they're in color, and the back has like four big MFDs.

In my view, the cockpit is highly experimental, and the results of the development is likely to filter down to future versions of current aircraft or to the J-XX but not in the form you see. There is going to be refinement down the road, changes and adjustments. For me, what's important is that they may be developing a HUDless front cockpit, given the first picture where there is no other cockpit in front of it (like the J-10S second cockpit) and the fact the tester is using a helmet under indoor conditions.

Re: J-xx

Removing Hud Altogether , don't you think is a little extreme? For the rudandancy's sake alone it would make more sense in my opinion. It does make sense to use HMS/HMD on helmet for effective Off boresight and perhaps for PGMs like JHMS but boy something goes wrong with that screen or anyof those gizmos right around pilot's head (short circuit and u have fried brain ) and u r left with your MFDS.Anyone?

Re: J-xx

Now I've heard news and people talking about the two next fourth generation fighters know as J-XX (Stealth) and Super-10 (Twin Engine J-10). Super-10 sounds like and enlarged J-10, but still has the basic J-10 form while the J-XX has a different design not present in the PLAAF, simular to the F-22 in design.

Now wouldn't this be a theory that yes the PLAAF is developing the J-XX and Super-10 with normal liftoff. But what if now this is my theory that the J-XX is trying to distract the US in that they are just devloping a conventional take off fighter but in fact that is only half the story behind the J-XX project.

In fact the J-XX has two sides of the project a conventional take off and VSTOL fighter, one that everybody knows is the conventional take off but the other side which the PLAAF have hush hushed is the VSTOL. But the conventional one will comeout first as VSTOL is really damn hard. Probably like 2020ish VSTOL, 2013 Conventional, 2011 Super-10.

Just my thoughts, what are yours?
