Here another hint even if this artwork surely cannot be regarded "reliable" (esp. due to being labelled J-16)

I'm pretty sure that is a fairly old Russian (note the Su-47ish auxiliary intakes, and the IRST has been pointed out already) CGI of a much heavier hypothetical fighter. I've had the original on my HDD since late 2009 (!), but can't remember where I got it.

This actually looks pretty good imo

"建立新机快速试制新模式,在歼-31歼-XX等研制中发挥了核心支撑作用"

So, it looks like J-31 is land-based while the naval version will be designated as something else. Could it be J-35? Just like J-11 vs J-15...

Does this mean they were able to reduce the weight of conventional structures by 3% with additive composites, or that there is only 3% by weight of composites?

Simply put, composites take up about 21% of the total weight and 1/7 of the composites (3% of the total weight) are treated by additive manufacturing (i.e. 3D printing).

Very interesting there is a J-xx next to the J-31. Could be air force variant, or a whole new plane of same generation.

pffff, I mean it's not the first time that "official" announcements have stated the upcoming of new carrier aircraft, but I won't get my hopes up too high for at least winter 2021.

Well winter in China is a couple months away! My two bob worth is that the Navy version will be flying, may it be a prototype.
