J-35 carrier fighter (PLAN) thread

Interestingly Huitong is repeating the same thing and has been doing so for the past few days.

"The latest rumor (January 2018) claimed that 601/SAC is working on an enlarged carrier-based variant based on FC-31, powered by two WS-19 turbofans. Its MTOW is >30t."

Where is this rumor coming from? Who's the originator?

Any news on how far along it is (expected first flight/roll out)? I was under the impression that WS-19 were suitable engines for an FC-31/F-35 sized bird at not much over 100kN per engine. If this enlarged naval bird were to use WS-19 then this would have to be much "thrustier" than that. And do they intend to test a new engine on a new bird? I don't recall us seeing any WS-19 being mounted on large transports for testing... yet.

You're getting the wrong impression from the wording of the rumors; an "enlarged" FC-31 will be like the F-35C vs F-35A, with the main increase in size limited to its wing area, and thus the WS-19 should be sufficient.

I'm glad to hear there won't be canards (if it turns out this way). So basically it's still FC-31.
It seems likely that these rumors are related to (or the same as) those I mentioned two weeks ago on the FC-31 thread. According to

thread on cjdby, pb19980515 said that the fifth-generation carrier-based fighter would have elements of both J-20 and FC-31 (or something like that), although others there write that he didn't say that. Furthermore, some (not necessarily very reliable) people said that a decision would be made by the end of 2017, which potentially matches the timing.
Anyway, remains to be seen.

Shipborne early warning aircraft fly two years (more than a year). . . .

Shipborne AWACS more than a year fly. . . Eject aircraft carrier second start (already started). Four generations of carrier-based aircraft are flying these two years. . .

Four generations of carrier-based aircraft design warfare indicators can be super-tour, the previous batch does not pursue super-cruise ability. ,,,

Mainly the information perception and data sharing capability on the 20 (this represents the new air combat tactical concept requires long-term air combat drills and technical improvements) ...

It doesn't have to be expected, the theory needs to be used to solve problems. Only from the level of technology and F35. In fact, the United States also need long-term drilling and technical improvement to improve.

In terms of timelines, is he saying KJ-600 will fly next year? And the fifth-generation fighter?

He's saying that the KJ-600 will fly in a year, while the 5th generation fighter will fly either this year or in 2019.

On a different note, a few weeks ago I asked Huitong when he thinks the 3rd FC-31 prototype will fly, and he stated 2018 ... this is allegedly a carrier version of the design as per his own blog.

Are you sure? I can only go by the translation, which seems to say "more than a year" for the KJ-600.

: PLAN is funding next carrier jet based on FC-31 w/ modifications especially sensor suite upgrade. 611 will develop J20 two seater that would serve as a command center to guide drone(s).

My guess is the WS-19 project is real and will be the engine of choice.
