Wow you guy sure about this? there was a break of about 7 years where nothing happened, then a while ago the J35 popped up again, and now you guys saying its heading into final testing phase. lol if thats true thats absolutely stealthy development lol, pun intended.

Lack of information over 7 years to the general public does not mean work stoppage.

Wait wdym 7 years? FC-31 has always been low-profile but news and pictures were getting out intermittently since its first flight in 2012. And since J-35 first flew around 2 years ago news about it were pretty rapid-fire by PLAAF (and SAC) standards

The X-35 first flew in 2000, F-35 first flight was in 2006, and introduction into service was in 2015.
So, no, J-35 development isn't slow at all.

It is one thing to quickly slap together a prototype and fly it based on mostly already available components, quite another to make something to the specifications of the armed forces.

They even probably switched the engine several times at this point. At least the nozzles in the current prototype look nothing like those in the RD-33 family.
