The Saudis and their massive piles of money could certainly afford a carrier or two, wouldn't be the first time they splurged on big-ticket military hardware before.Who is going to buy the export carrier based variant? Russia? India? Pakistan? Australia? Brazil? Thailand?
STOBAR version would be VTOL, which according to Deino, is highly unlikely. What about these variants:
-land based
-land based (export)
-carrier based (CATOBAR)
-carrier based (STOBAR)
… if we HAVE to make 4 versions fit. Other reasonable candidates for that 4th version would be EW ‘D’ version, twin seater, unmanned - in that order.
4 versions does seem a bit odd though.
India, and Japan.Who is going to buy the export carrier based variant? Russia? India? Pakistan? Australia? Brazil? Thailand?
In a world where China is triumphant I can see Japan buying FC-31 derived aircraft, and they would use it and other goodies to shit on what remains of the US whenever possible. It's not beyond imagination. But even in that situation I don't see India buying any.India, and Japan.
For goodness sake, STOBAR is not VSTOL.STOBAR version would be VTOL, which according to Deino, is highly unlikely.
