VTOL version about as likely as a dedicated export version.

….

Even if I agree, a dedicated export variant is unlikely, the level of unlikelihood - IMO it‘s plain impossible - for a VSTOL variant is something I don‘t understand.

Really guys … there is NO chance, that there will be a VSTOL version of the J-35 and not since the PLAN won‘t find such a version useful, but simply technically? Where do you install a lift method be it a fan or lift engines, how should two engines of a not existent VSTOL-type for the WS-13 or -19 work?

As such please stop this nonsense here in this thread!

Why does there need to be an export variant? What special export variant have they trotted out recently? Everything they've put on international market is just a different designation of a domestic variant.
According to Xi Yazhou, AVIC said that there will be a dedicated export variant that is distinct from J-XY/35, and will be based on FC-31V2. This is similar to China's export VT-4 tank, which is based on the Type 99A in PLA service but distinct from it. The reason given is to not reveal the capabilities of China's state-of-the-art equipments.

J35K which is actually Korea’s kfx
J35L larger variant with twin ws-15
J35M for PLAN marines
J35N intended for nuclear strike roles
J35O featuring solely optical targeting systems
J35P prototype…

J35, J35 everywhere
Finally we find a successor of old type 59.

Sorry but you misunderstood me and partially my fault for not being clear at all.

When I said VTOL is about as likely as export model, I meant about as likely as an immediate export model... as in the J-35/J-xy is developed for export only or something of that nature where it's primarily an export focused 5th gen fighter and secondary to that, it's a project PLAN wants a carrier version of.

Essentially what I'm saying is both VTOL and dedicated export (as a primary role of this program for SAC) are both equally unlikely until much later down the track... which means export is developed out of PLAN's or PLAAF's J-35/J-xy which is the primary purpose of this program for SAC now. An export version would be a lower priority and a version that is developed after PLAN's and PLAAF's (assuming land based airforce version of the fighter).
