The vertical tail is an obvious CG. Such a configuration would not be stable. In fact, I doubt it is structurally feasible. And why? The junction of the moving tail and the root is far from stealthy, and that root will create all sorts of turbulence any time the vertical tail is displaced away from center.

It's a prototype. There is an expected trial period of long duration to fix the problems. The final production model will be more polished. This is the typical process.

Re: New Generation Fighter

All common criticisms so far has nothing to with the design of the plane, mainly disbiefs, the pics are PS and CG..etc.. The impulses are to disengage rather engage.

So You really think this is a huge PLAAF-organised hoax only to fool some stupid enthusiasts ??? ... so they are pulling a mock-up over the taxiways and working on CG's in different angles ...

O.k.

It does not even matter that some people choose to not believe that the J-20 new generation fighter really does exist. We know that it exists and the other small number of critics can say what they want. That still does not mean the aircraft does not exist because they only say it doesn't. I am 100 percent convinced that it does in fact exist. So the critics have no influences on my opinions - It does exist !!! And I agree with Dieno on this matter of the Chinese new generation fighter called the J-20.

Re: New Generation Fighter

I was very skeptical at first, given the long history of photo-shopped Chinese military pictures, some very expertly drawn. But multiple pictures from different angles of the exact same aircraft are starting to lend credibility to the idea that the J-20 is real and in prototype form. But we still need more pictures from more angles.

Remember how many photos of the J-10 circulated internet boards like this one for years before the project was officially declassified. It was so well-known among enthusiasts that the official unveiling was a bit of a joke. Therefore it is legitimate to speculate about a real J-20 absent an official announcement which may be a decade off.

We need more pictures from more angles.

Are you here on the J-XX thread just to troll?

Geez think about it man What do you think might happen if the Russians decide that the Chinese plane is a threat as well as stealing the limelight from their 5th gen aircraft. Prior to Red Moon's post" I felt it its a perfectly legitimate viewpoint, if indeed they are according to Janes, relying on the 117S engine, in the preliminary/development stages. So on that basis I do think Hendrik2000 is popping the champange cork and puffing on the cigar prematurely.
Futhermore consider how long it took for the F22 to move from test/development models to actual production, or the problems that the F35 or Boeing 787 are having.

Perhaps the reason the F-22, PAK-FA and J-XX all have high mounted wings as opposed to the YF-23's middle mounted wings is because as I understand it, high wing designs are more structurally durable?

Using the 117S on the J-XX would be for the purposes of simulating the WS-15 (where else can you find a 14ton thrust engine with TVC available to China), rather than because of any deficiency with the WS-10.

Most likely has something to do with the arrangement of internal weapon bar.
