I too believe that, if they are planning a "public" flight test in the next few days, the actual first flight test, and a successful one, has already taken place. My understanding of the Chinese govn't tells me that they will not do anything publically unless they are absolutely sure of the success. they didn't let the world know about the Shenzhou 5 until it was successfully launched. And the next time with Shenzhou 6, they were more confident and showed the whole thing on TV. So with the J-20, the only way to ensure a successful show and to avoid a potential loss of face, they almost certainly have tested it.

BTW, I think the frontal view of the J-20 is absolutely amazing!! It looks beautiful and ferocious all at the same time.

Actual video footage available on the J-20 taking off and landing ! I believe those photos were from the videos these young guys took. Funny how they even circumvent the Great Firewall to post it on YouTube ...LoL

Very interesting analysis of J-20 from Karlo Kopp, Peter Goon - 3 Jan 2011

Very good article/analysis. It says F-18e/f/g and F-35 will not be able to match J-20.

Not much of a surprise, if J-20 eventually gets comparable sensors and VLO, and supercruise to F-22. It would certainly have the same advantages the raptor does and superhornets would definitely stand no chance. kinematically -- just from what we can see of the J-20s size and eventual power --the F-35 will be inferior too (no supercruise), and also in weapons load.

F-35's philosophy is to play the "lo-end" of the "hi-lo" pack, make up whatever it lacks with numbers and preferably, superior ordinance than its potential foes...at least by the current orders placed, that should be so.

If enter service, J-20 will fulfill the "hi-end" role, while J-10 for the "lo-end" until there's a 5th-gen successor for it, and J-11 can replace the JH-7 in strike role.

It's very easy...see the watermark on the 1st one? Those were originally posted on mainland China's sites, somebody from outside China download the softcopy and put them on YouTube.

Ugh, no offense but those guys had an annoying Sichuanese accent...

Uhhh, saying "Sichuanese is annoying" is offending...

We should be grateful that we get to see the amazing footage because these guys stood next to the fense in the cold and took the video...

P.S. we shouldn't be surprised that they had Sichuan accent since J-20's location is Chengdu, the capital city of the province of Sichuan..

People on Chinese fourms are giving a minute-by-minute account of what's going on at the Chengdu's airfield. Apparently, two J-10 have just finished rehearsing the test flight, J-20 have been towed to the end of the runway, and cameras have been setup at the end of the runway.
