Re: New Generation Fighter

they said that if possible, there might be test flight tomorrow(or today)
keep your eyes peeled people. honestly i really think, the moment that plane takes off the ground and is in the air, then caught on photo and uploaded before our eyes, the winners and losers will be decided

Darn you beat me to it... I'm not too sad though since I was the first to post it on ***********! :D :D :D

True skeptics will just say that the flying picture is also a PS. Even when CCTV officially announce that the program is real they'll go on criticizing how the plane is inferior to the T-50 or F-22 and F-35.

According to "siegecrossbow," you can almost make out the number "2001" on the nose of the plane in the third photograph.

Re: New Generation Fighter

^^ Sorry to get off topic but I've noticed a steady stream of new members in sinodefence lately. The J-XX has done wonders for our forum.

Only if DongFeng could start updating the actual website...

Back on topic.

Re: Latest picture in higher resolution (after my rotation)

The vertical tail is an obvious CG. Such a configuration would not be stable.
From the way the vertical tail droop, the center-of-gravity is obviously behind the hinge. Assuming uniform mass distribution, the center-of-mass would almost be coincided with the center-of-pressure. This would mean the center-of-pressure is behind the hinge thus making the stabilizer stable.

In fact, I doubt it is structurally feasible. And why? The junction of the moving tail and the root is far from stealthy, and that root will create all sorts of turbulence any time the vertical tail is displaced away from center.
You are being incoherent -- what do stealthiness and turbulence have anything to do with being structurally feasible? And do you have any empircal data showing that it is infact unstealthy and "create all sort of turbulence" or are these just part of your wishful thinking?

Re: New Generation Fighter

There is no still news about which engines are they using?
I read over the net and it seems unlinkely that they are 117S, so they could be russian engines developed specificallly for this plane? In that case i think we should already have information about it, on the other hand if they are chinese engines would be too good to be true (because these are clearly engines producing a lot of thrust, needed to power a so heavy fighter/bomber) . Or maybe they are chinese with average T/W ratio and the plane is so long to incorporate enormous engine to produce the required thrust?
