Re: New Generation Fighter
I second that, guts instinct perhaps but I'll be damned if it's not real!
However I see no significance in the paint job, red star or not, it could just be ceremonial if CAC wants to give the customer namely PLAAF commanders a favourable impression.
Can't tell the engines are WS10A from the picture though. The only thing we are sure about is there will be major changes to the back section of fuselage due to changes of engines in future. There are still doubts about the inlets and wing shape which hopefully we'll find out soon.
The tailfins also look smallish, is that because they intend to rely more on engine TVC?
I'm going to go with REAL. We don't know what engines this thing has. They actually don't look like ws-10a to me. They are not light-colored. They seem to have a darker finish...but it's hard to tell with the pics we have.
Looks like it probably has canards, I want to see the shape of the wing/fuselage and the bottom of the aircraft....guess we will have to wait until it flies.
It is a little strange that it has what appears to be only a red star...and it almost looks painted. Seems to me that Chengdu wants to show this plane off, perhaps to China's leaders. Let's face it, it doesn't look as cool in yellow/light green as is does in black.
I am over-speculating though...
Note that it seems to have a pure bubble canopy...not even the T-50 has that.
