Who's funding the project? The government.
who's funding and owns the PLAAF. The government.

If government decides to use this plane, then PLAAF will have it.

I agree with you on who (or whom) owns the aircraft, and I did not intend to start a debate with you over such issues. All that I was doing was to say what is in the red star on the vertical tail, and to explain why and how it differs from the Russian red star. Who knows, maybe the PLAAF will have a new insignia along with a new jet fighter (?)

not ture, in Mao's age, National Defense Science and Technology Committee control PLA armed buy and sell, but since 1980s Deng's age, Deng step by step to improved PLA armed purchase system, National Defense Science and Technology Committee just help the military enterprises produce and sell, PLA purchase departments have right to buy or not buy the armed products, so, if CAC fighters is no good, PLA can refused to buy it, they can buy SAC fighters.

But this could be an exception, as this project involved both CAC and SAC. of course CAC taking a bigger role.

Still, by what leaked out this far, all pointed to yet another hoax...unless you chaps feel like to share the title of "SUCKER SUPREME" with Kanwa and Pinkov (the hoaxers' primary target, obviously), I suggest to shelf away the bells and cigars for now.

Say, since when do here fell in standard to on par with those in mainland China, get caught up in hype and hoax so easily? Was expecting cold observation from western world military fans unrealistic nowadays?

The inlet is like F-22 or inductless like F35?

couldn't tell where the canard is.

The eye witness claimed that the intakes were on the side and were DSI intakes.

The "hoax" appears too elaborate for something designed to mess with pinkov. I don't think shitouhua would ruin his reputation just to do something like this.

I'm going to go with REAL. We don't know what engines this thing has. They actually don't look like ws-10a to me. They are not light-colored. They seem to have a darker finish...but it's hard to tell with the pics we have.

Looks like it probably has canards, I want to see the shape of the wing/fuselage and the bottom of the aircraft....guess we will have to wait until it flies.

It is a little strange that it has what appears to be only a red star...and it almost looks painted. Seems to me that Chengdu wants to show this plane off, perhaps to China's leaders. Let's face it, it doesn't look as cool in yellow/light green as is does in black.

I am over-speculating though...

Note that it seems to have a pure bubble canopy...not even the T-50 has that.

Re: New Generation Fighter

these photos are 4 small sections of shot to assembled for a full photo, I think some one (石头花 or his friend) taken the shot by cellular phone, see the link below:

now, some body found out that photo lost one section, here show the better assembled photo to compare, we can see the second photo is longer than the first one, and looks better.

That makes more sense.
