I agree -- the f-22 and j-20 length difference is two meters at the highest estimate but the latter looks to have a much greater volume despite similar wing sizes from placing the engines further back resulting in greater fuselage volume.

Not just look though. The F-22's bodylength (head to engine) is only around 16 to 17 meters. The plane is very compact compared to the YF-23, which has longer range and superior high speed performance.

I think if JH-20 holds more than 2 super ranged ramjet AAM
That's enough for the job
As for striker role, leave it to SAC fighter :p

Think about this, in a typical war scenario, two JH-20 sneak past enemy front line at over 2Mach, even being spotted at some distance by enemy EWAC, they might still have enough time to rush in, shoot 4 ramjet AAM towards the EWAC, then ran off.

Well if a hypothetical JH-20 won't be used for strike then the jh designation would be rather redundant then. I think a fighter which you described could be a very potent striker too, penetrating enemy iads, dropping multiple small PGMs in one go and then relying on speed altitude and stealth to get out safely.

generally I love the idea of F/B-22, or JH-20.

bigger wings also means bigger fuel tank volumn. which is cruicial for supercruise.

add a mid-fuselage plug for extra body volumn for fuel and bombs.

reduce struct weigh by lessen the max g to +6 gs.

you don't need High AOA performance so vtfins can once again reduced for drag.

for a striker bomber like JH-20, everything is range rang range.

I've held the opinion that j-20 is basically an f-22 with longer legs for the last few months, and hunting down enemy force multipliers past the opfor's "lines" at long range would be a logical role for it to undertake in addition to general air dominance.
Wasnt there a Tom Clancy book (debt of honour? The one where china and japan team up to screw america rofl >_>) in which an f-22 was assigned to hunt down jasdf aew&c? It's fictional but I imagine a small flights or pairs of j-20s (or any other heavy high performance stealth fighter) could perform similar roles.

LOL...Tom Clancy is losing it nowadays. His latest book (Against All Enemies) is about Taliban and Mexican drug Cartel teaming up to destroy America. Tell me if that isn't lame.

At least he's "sensible" enough to lay off China as his books topic now. Honestly I'm more confident any of our regular members can cook up a better work than he does, that's twice as exciting, and much much more, if not completely, realistic
