What are you talking about? The J-20 left ground faster than the JF-17 and only slightly slower than the Taihang equipped J-10B.

I mean it got airborne quite quickly (yay) but it didn't make much of a climb afterwards (and JF-17 should have a shorter take off if it wasn't weighed down by fuel tanks, but I digress).

J-20 once it flew a distance looked like one of those triangular ufos lol, partly due to its colour and partly cause few other planes have a similar configuration. Pretty awesome.

EDIT: actually I take that back, the J-20 did make a pretty decent climb >_> Angle of the video confused me first time around.

It was almost going vertical lol. You could see the entire back of the plane a few seconds after the takeoff.

Yeah, but it looked "shorter" than if it had been going straight or even close to straight vertical if you know what I mean?
I mean it looked quite different to this (not intending to compare planes, but just their take offs)

Or maybe it was just the angle of the video -- on that subject btw, I thought CAC upped the security a week back? Yet some guy managed to get thirteen minutes of footage? Lulzy.

I agree that it would probably take another decade before we see the J-20 pulling off something similar to this. I feel the plane is still a bit underpowered at this point.

The security guy will probably get fired lol.

Come on, Zhuhai 2020!! :D
Hopefully PLA "officially" declassifies it around it enters service -- they usually release some awesome photos from awesome angles when they do so. Just like the J-15 shots recently.
Going by J-10 (seeing as they're "100%" indigenous planes) we should see an airshow demonstration sometime after declass. Ah nomnomnom.

Awesome footage! ... Was it raining?

Has anyone commented on the clear difference in this one footage between the colors of the afterburn of the three aircraft? The J-20 gives that blue flame (as we were once told to be the PSed result), while at the same time the J-10B and FC-1 give that more traditional yellowish one.

But first you have to move it to a hiding spot, you would need to know in advance an attack is coming.
So in a surprise attack it won't matter. Also I doubt that any nation precision strike weapons can wipe all of aircraft base, let alone the ones inland.

The VTOL aircraft can be hidden right from start, or in the 30 minutes or so it takes the GPS guided weapon to arrive at the target point, the aircraft will be flown to another location that is hidden if possible since it's easier to hide a landing spot with a small area.

Just because an aircraft is VTOL capable, that doesn't mean it can land everywhere it pleases. It can only lands where logistic support can go.

It can just land on a temporary hidden spot. Later, when things are clear, it'll just fly to where the logistic support is, if required.
