I guess they are testing to see how fuel level changes affect the flight characteristics and centre of gravity etc. Instead of flying around for hours just to burn fuel, it would be more efficient to just rapidly dump it and get straight to business.

I would imagine that this would be a necessary step before they clear her for any long distance flights, so if the plane suddenly behaves unexpectedly as fuel levels drop, they have a runway right under them. That is a lot safer than if they experienced problems during a long range test/ferry flight hundreds of miles from a suitable airport.

This could mean they are laying the foundations for moving her to more remote test centers if this is the case.

Personally I think high intensity testing is still pretty far away and might not even happen until 2002 comes out.

Why would an aircraft dump its fuel?

To avoid IR heat detection or to lose weight to fly faster?

safety as well in case something terrible happens during landing you don;t want to compound it by having a few tons of jet fuel as well. I know in civilian jets only enough fuel is pump to make the trip and that's about it. If the plane has to land short, goes back or reroute it dumps most of the fuel unless if it's too low or if the plane does not have fuel jettison capabilities like some Boeing models.

Neither reason I presume. dumping fuel to gain speed or lower IR is not something you'd use in a combat scenario -- I certainly have never heard of it.

The only logical reasons would be -- either it was a malfunction (doubtful pretty elementary stuff I'd imagine), or as plawolf said it was to test the change in center of gravity.

Bad news, very bad news.

The AVIC decided to improve security around the CAC facility. Looks like high def photos are gonna be harder to come by:
