Again, 56 not working. Video got stuck at the very beginning.

What about 2002 airframe?

Here is something I've noticed about loading video on 56. It is easier to load if you change the settings from 高清(HIGHDEF)to标清(STANDARD DEF). Give it a try.

Again some minor "news" on the 2002 airframe ....

Side looking radar? Sensor array? my initial thought was position lighting, but its too large for that. On both sides?

Oh! and to the PLAAF thanks for sharing your bird with us, and buy that guy a new high def camera, this chick deserves to be seen in all her aviation glory. And lest someone think I'm just being facetious, really guys thank you for sharing, this is a monumental step in openess and honesty, really, and it does display the confidence and self assurance of people who put themselves out there. Remember all freedom is fraught with risk, and risk is full of rewards. It OK to be wrong, its OK to make mistakes, its not ok to take that out on innocents and folks who call your position into question.

Anyway, as many of us have surmised 2002 is an avionics test bed to bring the airframe and systems into proximity and begin to integrate these systems into a cohesive whole. Very interesting and informative, would love to have even some anecdotal pilot reps from the factory test jockeys, kind of flying impressions, no doubt some of these guys are type rated in J-11s J-15s J-10s just a kind of first thoughts approach, well PLAFF/Chengdu? Oh and good work, I always look forward to these "press releases".

I checked the setting but it's already set on standard def. Still can't load, like yesterday.

Just take a look at this yellow "banana-shaped" stripe ... even if I don't know what it is, I think it wasn't there durig the previous sightings.

Deino

There seem to be a faintly visible some kind of hexagonal bump at the top right of the yellow banana stripe.

Edit: Found it on Youtube. It played beautifully without a hitch.

The Main gear forward doors are open again? Whats up with that? any way more questions than answers lately. LOL

Well, in order to retract the landing gear, the doors have to open up for a couple of seconds. On 2001, the doors were left open all the time while the aircraft was on the ground. So the doors only close after the plane gets airborne. On 2002, they get a bit busier: Staying closed, opening for a while, then closing again...

That must be it! I was just thinking the thing looks like a super sized Bandaid... Wow, that's what I would call Occam's razer! ;)

That's correct. See how the wheel bay door open and close right after taking off in the video above.

Well, for me it didn't work the first time, either. But I was cool and let it go. I came back here and did two replies... sort of homework. And then I went back to the video again, and guess what? It worked!

When I asked the question, I just saw the single frame and wondered if they had gone back to the old program for some reason. Those doors are draggy and I would definetly not want them hanging open as I was accelerating down the runway, I would also imagine they cause a little rumble of dirty air the whole time their open, just supposing. I feel much better hearing they are closed for takeoff and initial climb out, and open to retract the mains. Thanks for the info guys.

Well I mentioned how the landing gear doors would work when the J-20 first came out because there's another aircaft, I forget which one, where the doors open, the landing gear comes out, and the doors close again. So it isn't anything unique. The J-20 just has a big ugly door but then again we've seen ground crew use it as step ladder inside so maybe it was designed that way.

The other aircraft with similar landing gear door operating is the IL-76 transport.
