fuel dumping could be more important to j20 than to older planes because j20 may have larger percentages of fuel without the benefit of jettisonable external tanks. maybe it needs a system where it can dumb A LOT of fuel and make itself lighter for a ton or two within a very short period of time. I do hope that plume of fuel isnt visible to radar though...

I'm not a radar expert by any stretch of the imagination but I would think a huge plume of fuel or sudden precipitation around objects can be easily detect by modern aircraft radars. I know weather radar uses pulse doppler to detect clouds, rain etc and similar technology is used in military radars to detect cruise missiles and other look down/shoot down applications, therefore I'm incline to believe they can detect large amounts of water or liquid in the air as well.

Relatively, the amount of fuel in a fighter is just a drop compared to how much water is in a cloud.

So why don't the engines ignite the fuel?

Aviation fuel don't burn easy. Folks can dump a match into it and it won't light up.

Also, clouds are made of water vapor, and fuel is made of hydrocarbons. Clouds are also humongous compared to fuel plume. A lake vs. a pond humongous.

Advertisement for a very special product:

"F-22 Raptor, America's Fifth Gen fighter". Author, Yang Wei.

Yup. This book is by the very same Yang Wei responsible for the Chengdu J-20. He also wrote a book on the JSF which is also available online. Guess he is a big fan of Lockmart.

Please buy the book and support the development of the Chengdu J-20 :D :D :D.

Interesting. Have anyone read any of them? His thoughts on the American stealth platforms might give insight into the design philosophies behind J-20

Why no, were not related, why do you ask? Why do you think there are still so many Elvis impersonators? The old cop show had a line by the star if I recall, "works for me".

When going all silence mode and frontal attack, you will have hard time ID the plane. Is it F22? Is it J20? I must say, I like the Chinese idea of copying the best idea's until they find an even better solution. This plane will shape the future in this next decade. You se USA rushing to move more fleet near China. I think they are late. This is not Japan in 1945. China can hit back militarily just like they can. But now they are economical getting sooner or later the number one. USA is losing leverage. But it does remind me of the Kennedy days with the Cuba crises. If they do not like others basing their weapons near their nation, why so much focussed on doing the same? It is like not accepting UN conventions or international tribunal but expect your opponents to do... Same goes for NPT by delivering nuclear material to India... I see hypocrisy.

Allegedly, the J20abnormal aerodynamic layout for crab first maneuver, was" floats" is a long distance. by surprise attack side incoming enemy aircraft,。

full motion + differential tail duck wing is to produce abnormal level to the motor, the motor is actually j-20 stealth fighter crab in imitation of racing elegant effect, in order to achieve instant formation of large torque, can make the level" flick". Motor and can use inertial make sliding distance longer transverse drift.

All movable control surface why difference? Is for the flowing time by adjusting the rudder maintain the orientation of the plane of the balance.

In the racing field lateral maneuver called four wheel drift, in the plane of the test system for lateral maneuver called crab motor is actually going on, crab motor uses the inertia pulling out, drawback is that the slip process speed will be greatly slowed down, in a supersonic cruise when once the crab motor, speed will quickly over to below the speed of sound a long time, so the lateral motor is relatively long, but may not be very long.

J20 can make longer crab motor because of its differential rudder in a routine flight to provide extremely strong balance performance but crab time lead to stall is excessive or to alter flight direction or will head twisted back to the straight line direction.

Although the crab motor cannot persist. But its abnormal differential rudders can let the nose and the direction of travel of a thirty degrees angle always fly down is" oblique flying" or half crab motor.
