Sorry what do you mean?
I only see one J-20...

Hmm ... maybe I'm too tired today or overanxious to see that bird - upps, Sorry "Dragon" - finally spreading its wings !

But aren’t these two J-20 in that image ??

I see the J-20 on the left, but I see nothing on the right? Only what could be the tail of J-20 against the background of a large chinese flag?
We only see the dark tail, which, given the perspective of the photo and the fence/netting blocking our view, could be anything..?

Let's not forget that the F-22 requires 30 hours of maintenance for every 1 hour of flight, and the F-35 is expected to be similar in that regard.

Yes lets not, the F-22 is a very capable fifth gen aircraft, it is "complex" to say the least. The F-35, J-20, and Pak Fa will require similar love and attention, no? Thats what happens when you integrate an aircraft into a weapons system. The F-22 will likely continue to have issues of corrosion, cracking, O2 problems, as will the other pieces of this little game. On the other hand it is the only fifth gen operational and performing its mission today and tommorow. All these other fine aircraft are in developement, when they come on line they too will face the "is it worth it"? Only if you believe in Airpower, and I do.

It seems that there are, they do love teasing us, or maybe its taunting, oh well, I think your right about the second bird in the shadows, and I think you're right about the powerplants. If you were testing an engine in developement, it only makes sense to throw the new one on with the old one. It also of interest to know how those engines are doing in a particular airframe, with cooling, airflows, inlets, etc, etc.

Hmm ... IMO the J-20 on the left is without daubt one of them ... and regarding on the right I don't think its simply a "shaddow" against the flag but there are clearly some guys "riding" on the front fuselage of a canopy-less second J-20.

But again ... let's wait and see (even if I don't want to wait any longer).

I tried to post this on China-defence.com, but it somehow didn't work...

Here's an old news piece from 2007 on

. It talked about both J-10 (that its overall performance is comparable to, and even surpassed, F-16 C/D) and a 4th gen. fighter to be R&Ded soon. And therein attached is this very interesting image, which apparently must be from someone who had seen the J-20 design somewhere:

I doubt so... Weapons hanged on the external hardpoint???

Well, even a stealth fighter can carry weapons on the wings when necessary, we just don't know whether or how the J-20 would do it. And this was 2007, the prototype probably wasn't there yet and the creator of this image either used his imagination or deliberately misled a bit. If it had been an exact depiction of what today's J-20 is, he sure would have have been invited for a tea session or something even a lot more ceremonial...

Tru Dat Bro! Prototypes likely wouldn't be wearing hard points, but artists would paint any fighter with weapons! I don't recall whether of not J-20 will carry external stores? Hopefully, we will see 2001 and 2002 flying in formation soon, the F-35 looks to be able to haul alot externally, but it was designed as a strike/fighter, and its internal stores are limited.
