That's a bad example. Marriage has no place in military forum.
Trying to play with words in CCP will bring you no future. CCP leadership never embrace such thing. Unless Major general is trying to ruin his career. In a efficiency and result matters party, the word " soon" means 2-3 years. Especially for a high profile project of J-20, every eyes will be looking at the progress.

If you are talking abt other countries system. Yr darling "soon" might be applicable. In a ruthless efficiency CCP, that is never going to happen.

I suppose that the 2013-2014 date for the experimental squadron is reasonable, but they won't be able to undertake combat operations utilizing the J-20's capabilities until 2015-17 at best, and then that knowledge will take another couple of years to filter through the PLAAF.

Beautifull picture that illustrates what a nice little bird this is, you guys will notice that there is minimal control deflection here and that the pilot is holding the nose off for "aerodynamic braking", good job tallman, why don't you come on the forum and tell us a little bit about your new toy, no state secrets, just a little "pilot talk".

Paint is right on target Lion, right now theres one maybe two, they are likely holding back as they expand the flight envelope. This is not like building a licence built Su-27, this is the hard and sometime heartless developement work of bringing a brand new aircraft to production, and like it or not the laws of aerodynamics don't change for the party. Doesn't matter if they are ruthless, or nice guys, we all play by the same rules, airplanes are not burgers at McDonalds, they are airborne art, and true artists get it right! "Patience, young skywalker"!

I think it got nothing to do with patience. It's more like you all can't accept J-20 can't be in service so fast. So far there is no indication J-20 is delay or slow.. It's right on track. You all can take gen He words for date 2017-2018 but comes to the major general word of "soon", you all become skceptical.

I want to stress again, major general stress 2 key wOrds. "Soon" and " not this year" what is not this year? 2012!

2013-2014 can be a very accurate description of service status indicated by the major general. I strongly believe the j-20 is capable of taking combat mission but prObably not all profile of combat. Just like F22 is capable of dropping JADM. It it was in the later stage of operation be fore capable of doing it.

you missed my point Lion, the point is, without a date it's empty talk, like this also "I will pay my debt" "when?" "soon!"
without giving a date, no one is putting their neck out, if you want accountability or gauge performance/achievement shouldn't that be important?
it's like selling burger without meat and cheese, so i'd think i'll keep my money

we know China usually delivers, and i'm not doubting the general, just call me a realist or something

ahh you should have more faith in us, i think no one here harbors an ill feeling towards J-20 or China, we love the bird

combat mission capable, let's see some weapons first okay, or perhaps some big leaks or rumor J-20 performing weapon release test

But honestly, I do believe, to some degree, the big shrimps (quasi-insiders or someone who knows some insiders). Lots of what they have leaked since before the J-10 came out have proven to be accurate. As we Chinese ourselves say, China is a land of miracles (and that often is said in a sarcastic tone) and has proven the world wrong too many times ever since the reform started...

Well Lion, we could put a fiver on it, the old put your money where your mouth is, but I wouldn't want to take your money. As I said, "The J-20 is a brand new airplane, not that the aeros are new, but the first time Chengdu has tackled a project of this magnatude. We started ATF program in 1986, if not mistaken it first flew in 1995, and wasn't operational until 2005, 20 years little brother, lots of gray hair for me waiting on our baby,we are still workin the kinks out of this chick. Its more important to get it right the first time, I believe I have commented more than once that some were surprised with the quick pace to first flight, this is rocket science and a little voodoo magicLOL. NO DISRESPECT, I admire your faith, at 55, I may be a little more skeptical in general. Be glad the PLAAF are letting us share the fun little bro. I am pulling your chain a little bit, lighten up, smile, you're a bright guy, thanks for contributing to the forum, I have also said and will again, you have every right to be proud of JXX, its lookin great and flying great, congratualations. I think the J-20 is right on time, now if your in some kind of national crisis or international competition, ie the "race for the moon. If theres one trait of the Chinese people I admire it is their hard work and patience. You could well be right, and if I'm wrong, you can remind me, and to be honest, I always thought Yoda was rather impatient as well as cranky.
