this has been around for quite some time, but just resurfaced and i don't remember seeing it here, pretty nice CG, also quite accurate, considering the first time it appeared

big plant exist is to overhaul those short lifespan and unreliable AL-31FN engine from Salyut. If AL-31FN engine is reliable. The plant in chengdu will not exist in the first place.
O'RLY? soon you will come to statement that Chinese invented AL-31FN and it appeared only due to perfect overhaul plant built

AL-31FNs no less reliable than F100/110 but have less MTBO and lifecycle (well, these are improved in last batch of engines being sold to China).

Talking of 'engine caused crash' is not a stage at which investigation board stops - what exactly? how good maintenance was? how many overhauls it had? was it at the end of projected/prolonged lifecycle or brand new? which spare parts were used? etc. etc. that knows everyone who watched at least one episode of 'Air Crash Investigation' or read at least one AIB report

All thanks to Russian engineering. China lost their Mars probe.
thanks to Russian engineering experience shared during last decades you have lion's share of your aerospace program in existence

how many test flights needed before operational ?

There's never a set number for such things, only "when they get all the data that's needed" and "meet all the set requirements for certification" then will accept into operational service, but from prototype to production model there're different stages and iterations, each require their own flight testing and certification.

Thus the only certainty is that it all depends on how all of the components come together...and y'know, Murphy's Law is fair for everybody and everything.

So far, the popular projection is in the later half of this decade, though the US DOD projected not before 2025.

AFAIR, ONI suggested 2018 that very close to General He statement in his famous interview telling of 2017-2018 timeframe

'shrug'...not?
CAC wants 3D TVC nozzles as they said to Salyut, so I don't believe in 2D nozzles fanarts

flateric,

Do you know the designation of the Salyut engine? Is it one of the AL-31FM1/2/3 or is this something new?
Any idea about the thrust? (Hui Tong rumored it close to 140kN, but just a rumor)

Regarding the 3D TVC I assume its similar to
