Hey guys ..I may have been wrong about a September flight. I found these photos on mp.net..If true it appears the J-20 flew today! And I think it did!

Yeup, good thing we didn't take you up on your bet :p
But that's not to say the other prototypes haven't flown between today and Janurary... I mean it's been nearly four months. I wonder if the plane we're seeing today is the same one which first flew or another prototype. I'm seriously considering that there may be a few more than one "2001" prototypes out there.

Out of interest where did the September date come from, Popeye?

If this photo isn't altered, then I'm extremely impressed with the quality of J-20's surface skin. Perhaps it's the thick stealth paint that made the weapons bay so hard see.

Zzzz, just to be a pain, I want to point out that stealth "paint" (i.e.: RAM) doesnt' necessarily have to be black. The current paint scheme coupled with the better build quality makes it look far smoother. I wonder if they chose this paint scheme to make it hard for observers to tell where the weapon bays are and to disguise the serrations... Hide the visual part of stealth shaping?

Just a guess based on how the USN tested the Tomcat.

Another pic!

I remember reading about the fragility of the RAM coating. But I also think it's entirely possible that its flaws can be trumped up by those wanting to kill the F-22. Sure the "Western media" can lie, so can everyone else, as not everyone in the west, or anywhere, has the same agenda. I'm not sure why someone would want to pick the naysayers as truth without any support aside from conjecture. That said, I do believe the F-22 coating does have problems, and the maintenance costs don't lie.

These new pictures are simply amazing, and you can start to see the lines from panels and control surfaces at this resolution.

big ones are 3648x2736 px :D

From Huitong:
"Besides a large belly weapon bay for short/long-range AAMs (up to 6 PL-10, PL-12C/D & PL-21), two samller lateral weapon bays have been identified behind the air inlets for short-range AAMs (up to 2 PL-10)."

Am I just seeing things or the weapon bays are open in the first pic? I thought J-20 doesn't have any weapons bay.

You probably are not seeing things.

What made you think the prototype wouldn't or didn't have weapon bays?

It was really difficult to spot weapon bays from earlier J20 photos. Weapon bays' lines are clearly visible on J-22s and F-35s, but such lines are hardly visible on J20.
