I think it's imperative for China not go all-in to produce too many J-20, but leave some for improved version of J-20 down the road as I am sure Japan has some counter strategy on current version of J-20 .

I can't rational the reason why USA selling so many F-35 to Japan instead of pushing for Aegis defense weapon, WWII massacres still fresh in memory of so many Asian countries especially China , Japan is now ditching it's defensive Aegis and opted for to purchased hundred of offensive F-35 stealth fighters , say what you like- F-35 is design to penetrate a country defense system and bomb the hell out of a country - it's an offensive weapon. How can USA ignore the feeling of it's Asian neighbors when mass genocides was done by Japan -until today refused to acknowledge ; needless to say a formal apology to its Asian neighbors.

It's ironic that China is seen as a power crazy nation when the history said otherwise while Japan with its too- many-to-count and too-cruel-for-words killings are given the benefit of doubt. I have little doubt that Japan still harbor to be world power and their desire to reverse humiliations on WWII and their once a mighty economic stagnated by USA. History shows us that Japan has no boundaries when it's comes WMD creation through audacious weapons experiment on human beings, they are allowed now to experiment again with weapons on top of acquiring them from USA. Beware USA !! I'm sure if they allow to continue with their weapon experiments, in few decades they will even leapfrog USA. By then you will see clearly who is the wolf in sheep clothing and who is the sheep you have put in wolf clothing.

What is not to get? The US is pursing cold geopolitics with absolutely no regard for the feelings of the enemy, that is the Chinese.

The basis of the original Cold War containment plan involved the US rehabilitating Japanese war criminals in the 1950s. Selling F-35s is nothing compared to that.

Apparently Xu Qiliang (许大帅也去看了) was also present. Must have been a very important test considering both CMC vice chairmen were there.

I think Pupu is referring to the 14.5 tonne thrust WS-10 that was confirmed to be under development during the Zhuhai Airshow. In 2017, Pupu stated the WS-10Bs on the J-20 prototypes had a thrust of nearly 14 tonnes.

In a follow up post Pupu implied that they are developing a new version of Taihang (rumored to be 16 tonnes) as a stop gag before WS-15 is ready.

Could you link or take a screenshot of the post? Thank you. I saw someone say something about it in CJDBY but he didn't provide a post.

That's one hell of an engine for a stopgap. If they can get a 16T Taihang online, they can take their sweet time with the WS-15.
A 16 tonne WS-10 would really make the thrust of the WS-15 all the more interesting ... I think we can expect a thrust of 18 tonnes then. Apparently there were leaks in 2014 that 606 significantly altered the WS-15's specs, among them the thrust rating. This would explain why the WS-15 is a little behind schedule since it was supposed to be incorporated into the J-20 this year.

That’s not true. 16 tonnes is the maximum thrust achieved via afterburner. The military thrust is far lower than that of actual fifth gen engines like F-119.
