I recall many state released info (from interviews and whatnot) indicating J-20's supercruise ability and how lightweight it is for a 5th gen fighter. This doesn't mean it is as lightweight as a similarly large 4th gen fighter but many advanced in materials and manufacturing have allowed J-20 to be lighter than it would otherwise be.

There were some nearly unbelievable figures hinted at in the past (around 3 or 4 years ago?) and shows the J-20 is nearly as "light" as a similarly large Flanker.

There were also leaks even further in the past where the FC-31 program was said to be using entirely new (in fact world first) 3D printing titanium of many bulkheads and sections with one shown. This would have only been a few years after the FC-31 first prototype was shown to the public. One can only imagine what the actual abilities already are at many years after the revelation of this info considered "dated" and not so sensitive by the state.

It is more maneuverable than a J-11B. As per Yankee Su-35 is still the maneuverable fighter in service in PLAAF.

Didn't he say probably the most maneuverable fighter in PLAAF when referring to Su-35?

J-20 may be more agile overall since it almost certainly perform better in supersonic regime.

I guess they use the terms agile and maneuverable pretty interchangeably to mean more or less the same thing - overall kinematic performance for BVR and WVR typical turns.

The Flanker is designed for kinematic dominance (for its size and weight) in the transonic regime and features excellent post-stall maneuvering. Fighters like Typhoon and J-20 are designed to dominate in supersonic regime. The J-20 seemingly a better performer due to even longer length and how swept back those vertical stabilisers are for higher AOA.

Same comment regarding maneuverability and agility. Also it is not clear if, and with what configuration of stores, J-20 equipped with WS-10 performs better than Su-35 In the supersonic regime. I suspect with a light A-A store J-20 equipped with WS-10 probably has little edge over Su-35 In either subsonic or supersonic regime. With heavy A-A store J-20 may have some advantage.

Wow ... it almost took one year to get a first "clearer" image of a J-20A from Anshan and now there are already four individual aircraft confirmed with no. 61125 - aka no. 15 - being the highest number.

Not sure if it is lighting, but the RAM edge treatment for the side bays looks different from the J-20 we saw for the 2020 Zhuhai Air Show as well as the previous J-20s with the black RAM edge treatment.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the brigade was already fitted out with J-20s at this point.. the timing should work
